Sr. Java Developer Job Description: IFS is a world leader in the hedge fund administration space, with a top-tier client base. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Java Developer in our Middle Office Technology department. In this position, you will be building the proprietary systems our operations personnel use to provide our clients the "white glove" service that IFS helped to pioneer in the industry. We are strong proponents of Agile and XP software development methodologies and are building out our team of highly skilled developers with a passion to write clean, readable code. Unlike most people on Wall Street, we have a commitment to the XP concept of "sustainable pace." Primary Responsibilities: • Designing and implementing software features for new and existing applications. • Providing (when needed) second level production support for the applications in the group. • Contributing to the overall advancement of our team's understanding of development best practices. Requirements: • Demonstrated mastery of the Java technology stack, including the core java packages and concurrent programming theory. • Past success delivering software solutions to complex business problems. • Understanding of advanced programming concepts such as test-driven development, design patterns and refactoring. • Past experience using jUnit and mock objects in a practical development environment. • Past experience in performance tuning and creating scalable systems. • Understanding of iterative development techniques, with preference given to candidates with experience in an Agile (such as SCRUM) planning cycle. • Experience with and a desire to engage in XP programming practices. • Willingness to work in a collaborative environment, including being comfortable with pair programming and group code reviews. • Desire to take part in the broader development community and share new concepts and ideas with the team.
