ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: This is a historic time for Newark Public Schools (NPS).
The largest and one of the oldest school systems in New Jersey, the district
currently serves nearly 40,000 students in 75 schools and employs approximately
7,000 faculty and staff. With the appointment of a dynamic new superintendent, a
significant level of national attention and the support of the academic,
philanthropic and education reform communities, NPS is poised to drive
groundbreaking change in the local community and serve as a model district
nationwide. NPS aims to create Newark schools that meet the needs of every

ABOUT THE POSITION:
In partnership with the Superintendent, the Chief of Staff will be responsible
for designing and implementing operational structure, leading ongoing district
operations, and hiring and managing key staff. Given that NPS is at a moment of

opportunity for an entrepreneurial, results-oriented, senior-level leader to
help drive the development and management of a best-in-class educational system.
Key responsibilities include:
* Help foster a culture of high standards, accountability, commitment and
urgency within the district;
* Develop and implement a strategic plan for operational management and
execution of the district’s work, resulting in improved learning outcomes for
all students;
* Assess the organizational infrastructure of the district (staffing needs,
reporting structures, administrative systems and procedures, and programmatic
assessment) and make substantive recommendations for change where necessary;
* Lead the recruiting and selection process for central team members, ensuring
that Newark Public Schools is building a best in class team;
* Manage cross-functional projects and priorities to drive coordination between
interdepartmental staff, the Mayor’s office and other current and prospective
partners;
* Establish and maintain effective measurement systems for tracking
organizational performance and progress toward goals;
* Prepare, execute and/or edit written and oral correspondence, presentations
and/or memos to the constituents, staff, and other entities;
* Work closely with the Superintendent as a strategic thought partner and
supervise her administrative staff, to help prioritize her time, and keep her
informed of key developments in the district’s ongoing operations;
* Partner with organizational leadership to develop and manage district-wide
policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant state and local laws
while also holding staff accountable to the highest standards of performance.

e-commerce Tech Lead position: 6 months Contract to Hire with local Parsippany
NJ client.

Pay rate on Corp to Corp is $75-80 per hour   Backend Salary range for permanent
hire will be   $110-125K
 
This position is responsible for the technical leadership of assigned systems
and is accountable for ensuring that the system structure adheres to established
best practices. The technical lead is expected to work independently to oversee
all application maintenance as well as all system enhancements.  This person is
tasked with coordinating technical efforts within our IT department and with
multiple vendors.  The Technical Lead is responsible for solution design in
coordination with Architecture and works to maintain our design standards while
also working on the actual design.  Will be working on multiple projects and
deliverables at the same time.

 
This role also requires working with Onsite and Offshore groups on a daily
basis. They should maintain technical proficiencies with existing technologies
and remain abreast of emerging technologies, at the same time share specific
competencies across the Engineering team. They need to work collaboratively with
other teams within IT and across the business teams and vendors to achieve

The Technical Lead is responsible for managing a team of Senior Engineers along

* Experience with development tools: Eclipse, Jbuilder, DBVisualizer, Toad,
XMLSpy, Visual SourceSafe, Win CVS, ANT, Maven, Accurev
* Experience working with UNIX (Solaris/Linux) operating systems.
 
* Design and Architecture
* Experience in designing and architecting web applications, distributed
components, content management systems, and search engines.
* Advanced understanding of design patterns, open source frameworks, Unified
Modeling language (UML) and development methodologies like Rational Unified
Process (RUP), Extreme programming (XP), Rapid Application Development (RAD) and
Agile.
* Experience in gathering/reviewing business and technical requirements.
* Experience in creating design and deployment documents based on RUP templates
and Rapid application development process templates.
* Experience working with design tools: TogetherJ, Erwin, MS Visio,
PowerDesigner, Axure
* Experience with PCI complaint solutions would be preferable
