Keith Bogen and I have both heard it from the horse's mouth: Some Recruiters don't want to interview Unemployed applicants. We both were in shock initially and in checking with our peers found out this was becoming a common practice. Keith even told a few what he thought. This is from my SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management) newsletter today:
Legislation Would Bar Hiring Discrimination Against Unemployed Applicants
Two bills introduced in Congress would prohibit employers from considering an applicant's status as unemployed in filling job openings. If some version of this legislation passes, employers will need to rethink how they recruit and interview job candidates.
