Does Your Resume Miss Out on the Latest Trends?
December 5, 2011
Laura Smith-Proulx <http://www.careerealism.com/ >author/laura- smith/
Writing your resume for the first time in years? Whether you're aware of it
or not, resume trends <http://www.careerealism.com/ >resume-mistakes- running/
have changed substantially.
In fact, the document you send out WILL compete with custom-designed,
focused resumes for other executives. Therefore, you'll need to ensure your
resume is in line with cutting-edge changes in format and style.
What's changed in recent years and months? Besides the fact an objective
isn't workable anymore, many resumes now contain a splash of color, a
branding headline, or a metrics- and detail-packed summary that replaces
tired, overused phrases.
Consider implementing these trends into your own resume as a way to stand
out:

Job interviewing 101 -- 6 essential questions to ask every candidate

Reverse-engineering the questions to get a jump on what you might be asked.
Remember, if you are there for a physical, live-and-in-person interview,
they've decided that there is enough information on your
resume that you can PROBABLY do the job. IMHO, as I've said before, there
are only two things an interview is really for:
1. Can you cogently and competently talk to what's on your resume? I.e.,
can you walk the talk of what you say you've done?
2. Can you "fit" here?
