VOIP Support Engineer
Job Description
The VOIP Support Engineer position is based out of the company's office in Newark, New Jersey. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide pre sale engineering support and post sales operating support (Tier 2 support) to SIP Trunking and Aggregator customers. Candidates for this position should have experience deploying and supporting Cisco Unified Communications (voice) products, Avaya premise PBX(IP) as well as open source applications such as Asterisk.
Responsibilities:
- Experience in Cisco Unified Communication provisioning, installation, configuration and troubleshooting.
- Experience in troubleshooting Avaya products as well as Asterisk based solutions.
- Knowledge of LAN / WAN networking, servers, workstations, operating systems and applications.
- Be able to interact with our customers professionally and technically.
- Work with our internal carrier groups on termination issues.
- Work with our Engineering, Development and QA groups on new rollouts when needed.
Qualifications:
¡ Minimum of three years of related network / IP Telephony administration and support.
¡ Strong working knowledge of CUCM (Call Manager),Cisco Voice Gateways Avaya IP Office gateways and Asterisk based applications.
¡ Excellent problem solving, debugging /troubleshooting skills are required.
¡ Experience using network protocol analyzers suchas Wireshark / Ethereal a must.
¡ Knowledge of Voice protocols (SIP, MGCP, H.323)
¡ Current Cisco CCNA voice, CCNP voice / CCVP certifications or equivalent experience is required.
¡ Active Cisco / Avaya Voice Specializations are desired.
¡ Bachelor's degree preferred
¡ Prior experience working in a NOC environment isa plus
¡ Strong communication and client-facing skills
¡ An eagerness to learn and be proactive at maintaining and developing technical skills.
¡ Willingness to travel on assignments
¡ Ability to speak other languages, Spanish preferred
