Applications Development Manager for Funds Management Technology / Digital Marketing
As an Applications Development manger in Funds Technology / Digital Marketing, you will direct the activities of software applications development including management of the development effort, deployment and maintenance of business. You will manage the Agile Software Engineering Life Cycle of multiple web applications and own the complete Applications Development spectrum, from concept to delivery.
The ideal candidate will rely on strong Agile applications development experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. You will lead and direct the work of others. You will manage geographically distributed applications development resources and drive their work distribution, quality of deliverables and overall performance. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the application development function for key project streams within the Funds Web Platform, that includes multiple internal and external facing web applications and Content management Systems
- Work with business product owners to lead working sessions, plan releases, elaborate concept, understand scope, gather requirements and develop project management roadmap
- Evaluate existing applications to determine technical changes, schedules projects and resources, and monitors project execution
- Manage a team of geographically distributed analysts and developers responsible for the program's applications development function
- Assume the role of Scrum Master, lead huddles/scrums and standup meetings, resolve blockers and enable teams to deliver effective sprints
- Set and implement policies and procedures related to application quality standards and testing
- Combine project management skills with strong technology analysis and development experience to execute development projects
- Manage development resources both internal and vendor sourced, validate estimates and drive application development to produce quality solutions for the Marketing team
- Develop productive working relationships with business, technology, infrastructure, architecture, and enterprise technology teams that participate in the SELC and ensures coverage of all aspects of application development and delivery
Specific Technical and Business Skills
- Extensive experience in developing and delivering enterprise software is required
- Experience in leading Agile software development, prior experience in the role of Scrum Master is required
- Usage of Agile PM tools such as JIRA, GreenHopper, Mingle, etc.
- Strong applications development experience is required, specifically in Java/J2EE and web technologies
- Lead applications development experience is required, with specific experience in working with onshore and offshore team structure. Provide vendor management and oversight for off-site development services and management of vendors.
- Proven track record of establishing standards and overseeing quality software development utilizing industry standard best practices, sound financial management, project direction and execution
- Proven experience in Java/J2EE/Web Technologies programming working on large and medium scale software projects
- Experience with Source Code management techniques/tools for software management
- Experience with IDE's such as RAD, Eclipse or similar
- Proven skills in using J2EE modules such as JSP, JDBC, and Servlets
- Knowledge of relational databases languages (Sybase or Oracle)
- Thorough knowledge of Agile SELC (Software Engineering Life Cycles)
- Demonstrated teamwork and ability to work with diversity of team location and background
- Experience in developing solutions using Content Management Systems
Other Qualifications
- B.S. (Computer Science preferred), should have proven course work in several computer software, algorithms, data structures, programming languages subject areas
- 5 to 10 years of strong applications development experience is required, specifically in Java/J2EE and web technologies
- 3 to 5 years of lead applications development experience is required, with specific experience in working with onshore and offshore team structure
- Deep technical experience is required, including experience in web-based applications on Windows and UNIX platforms utilizing Java and various thin-client application development frameworks
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to all levels – management, colleagues, direct reports
- Ability to develop strong relationships and influence people
- Ability to be a part of a team and actively contribute at all levels
- Must be well versed & in touch with latest industry trends in technology
- Funds Management experience is a plus
- Project Management certification (PMP) is desirable (optional)
