Java Developer with Search Engine Experience (New York, NY)

**Search Engine Experience is a MUST**

One of our clients, a major Fortune 500 Publishing company is looking for Java/Endeca professionals to join their team.

There are two open positions, one mid-level and one Senior position.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position will have lead responsibility for designing and implementing search applications with technologies such as Java and Endeca (or any other Search Engine technology).

Key Responsibilities:

· Design and implement web-based search applications to support business requirements.

· Participate in the full lifecycle of a project, from requirements definition to application and integration design to hands-on development and tuning, testing, deployment, and support.

· Produce design specifications and other technical documentation.

· Create clear and flexible designs that follow standards and best practices.

· Review and recommend third party products and services that may provide beneficial solutions.

· Provide expert guidance for test planning and analysis.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related area.

· 5-10 years of experience building data driven web-based applications.

· Prior experience with Endeca or any other search engine technology (Verity and other search engines a plus).

· Strong understanding of information storage and manipulation techniques including relational database practices.

· Deep knowledge of Java, J2EE, JavaScript, HTML, scripting, SOA principles, object-oriented design, application frameworks such as Spring.

· Experience with XML (DOM, W3C Schema, DTD, XSLT).

· Source Control Management experience (Subversion a plus, CVS is ok).

· Experience with Tomcat and Apache is a plus.

· Project leadership experience providing guidance and direction to fellow team members, consultants and external vendors.

· Hands-on experience with test driven development and test automation tools. Load testing experience is a plus.

· Ability to work within a formal development team and change management structure.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
