This position will report to the Leader of Information Technology Department. Kumon University is designed to be a world-class Corporate University aligned with Kumon's unique learning needs and corporate goals. The incumbent will lead a team responsible for deploying, supporting and maintaining all e-learning/distance education courses for Kumon associates and Instructors. He/She will be involved in choosing a vendor and customizing the entire Learning Management System (LMS) ground up. This position is located in Teaneck NJ. Relocation to Teaneck, NJ may be considered.
Job Responsibilities: * Will be responsible for the integration of the Learning Management System with other IT systems. * Provides communications regarding ongoing maintenance related to learning management or applications related to e-learning. * Performs administrator tasks related to the learning management system. * Monitors hardware and software associated with e-learning systems to maintain a 99.999 percent up-time. * Collaborates with the e-learning team and works closely with the e-learning team leader to provide reliable enterprise class network-based solutions. * Ensures applications are up-to-date and optimized to minimize security risks and enhance reliability of the software. * Develops, documents, and maintains process documentation. * Develops automated processes through scripting and other techniques * Designs, develops, and coordinates test plans and document results. * Provides in-depth system support. * Evaluates and tests updates, service packs and hot fixes to ensure successful implementation. * Resolves problems related learning management administration. * Coordinates archiving of courses and other duties assigned. * Coordinates technical issues with current system vendor * Coordinates and oversee the installation of all system updates, upgrades, and other software integrated with learning management systems and lecture capture systems. * Collaborates with the e-learning team to establish system defaults, policies and procedures, and strategic plans for system use and expansion. * Performs other services as needed to advance training and learning in alignment with Kumon University's goal and vision. * Coordinates activities and provide support for iTunes U. * Manages and proactively monitors KU's learning management systems. * Coordinates other activities as required by the e-learning team.
Job Requirements: * Master's degree in Computer Science, Educational technology or other appropriate field. Bachelors with relevant experience may be considered. * Hands on knowledge of learning management system integration. * At least 2 years experience in system administration role with emphasis on systems analysis. * At least 4 years experience in using different LMS such as Blackboard, Saba, Cornerstone, Moodle, etc. * At least 1-2 years experience with lecture capture systems. * Basic knowledge of scripting languages. * Knowledge of .NET preferred. * Knowledge of Flash design (Active scripting) * Must be proficient in HTML, XML, Dreamweaver. * Must be comfortable working in a strict Windows environment. * Practical experience with SQL server 2000-2008, SharePoint, UNIX, Linux. * Understanding of digital media creation, compression, and media streaming
