Position Responsibilities – Summary

As member of the Enterprise Delivery Center, this individual will be
responsible for design, architecture, development and maintenance of
applications within Derivative Operations Systems (DOS) including, but not
limited to, Intraday, Markit, and Central Counterparty applications.
In this role, the individual will participate in all development activities
to successfully deploy new systems and enhancements, and work with
colleagues and end users to design, develop and implement solutions to meet
business requirements.

Key Responsibilities;

· Lead architecture, design, implementation, deployment, and support
efforts across all DOS applications
· Provide technical direction to both onshore and offshore
development team members with regards to iteration planning, release
planning, and prioritization of work across all DOS project tracks
· Work with business team members, project managers, and systems
analysts to review and qualify business requirements, functional
specifications, use-cases, and test plans
· Design, prototype and author code for software components and
applications based on functional specification
· Ensure the adherence to established code-quality standards within
the DOS development and QA teams, such as Continuous Integration, Code
Reviews, and all required release documentation
· Modify and enhance existing systems to incorporate new
functionality and to optimize them for performance
· Provide level 3 production systems support including monitoring,
trouble-shooting and fixing problems as they occur
· Work with other software engineers to design and implement
application features, user interfaces, batch processes, and business
functionality enhancements
· Work across teams such as with middleware, database, and
architecture teams to coordinate and facilitate production releases of DOS
applications
· Author architecture, technical design, and support documentation

Keys to this Position:

1. Technical Leadership: The candidate should be able to lead a technical
development team of 4 to 6 consultants (coordinating releases, planning,
working with analysts, providing team direction, etc.
2. This is a hands on coding job. The candidate must be a proficient coder
with Java, Oracle, PL/SQL, & Perl. There will be front- end GUI development
along with back end batch processing. Datastage is a plus.
3. Financial services is a big plus. Derivatives experience is a big plus.
The candidate will ideally come out of another Asset Manager.

Required Skills and Competencies:

Proven Leadership, technical, design, and systems analysis skills
Proven track-record of working with project managers, systems analysts, and
infrastructure teams to complete and deliver projects
6-10 years experience leading engineering teams on multiple complex projects
simultaneously
6-10 years of proven object-oriented software design and development
experience in Java-based technologies
6-10 years of proven software development experience with browser-based
applications and technologies
Must be comfortable working with Oracle databases, and possess excellent
Oracle SQL, SQL tuning, and PL/SQL skills
5+ years of proven experience with such technologies as web services,
XML/XSLT, Struts, Grails, log4j, ANT, Spring, AJAX
Experience using and deploying to industry-leading application servers such
as Tomcat or BEA WebLogic 9.x
3+ years experience with PERL
3+ years experience with Datastage
Must be comfortable working in a Unix environment, with at least basic
shell-scripting knowledge
Proven track-record of leading both onshore and offshore teams through full
development lifecycles and successful completion of projects
Experience with various software development methodologies, such as RUP or
Agile
Willing to work in an energetic, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment
Proven ability to support multiple applications simultaneously
Must be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
Financial industry knowledge, or knowledge of derivatives is a huge plus
