Application Developer
Reports to the Associate Director of Information Technology. Is responsible for the design and development of all web applications for the Office of the Vice President of Continuous Education and Outreach, as well as services for affiliates and strategic partners. Manages all facets of web application design and development including database connectivity, graphic design, programming, and working with users to enhance their experience. Develops online systems for departmental automated processes including financial data via web-based system edits, updates, and data entry as needed by application. Works with internal information technology management to initiate, implement, and manage projects through its life cycle with development staff. Collaborates with the university's Office of Information Technology regarding technical requirements, application design specifications, and prototypes for all application responsibility areas. Maintains existing applications based on operational requirements. Performs other duties as required. Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with three or more years of relevant work experience to include web development, computer programming, online applications, and database creation, preferably in higher education. Also requires knowledge and skills to include experience with JSP/Java, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash, Content Management Systems such as Plone and Drupal, SQL, and understanding of relational databases (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle), JDBC/ODBC, Apache Tomcat, and Linux/UNIX. Requires good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Application Developer
Reports to the Director and/or Project Manager. Is responsible for implementation and ongoing support of the Oracle PeopleSoft HCM (Human Capital Management) modules including the analysis, design, development, and testing of application conversions, interfaces, extensions, and customizations. Plays a key role in the integration with Oracle Ebusiness suite financials; is involved in developing reports and batch processes; and provides ongoing support for the Oracle PeopleSoft HCM applications including Human Resources, Payroll, Benefits, Time and Labor, Self-Service Employee, Self-Service Manager, PeopleSoft Portal, and Workflow. Assists with troubleshooting the applications and provides second-level Help Desk support. Provides subject matter and technical expertise to less senior staff. Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related technology field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
