Electrical Engineering

Responsabilities:

Electrical Engineering position to design and develop power supplies, embedded controllers mechanical enclosures and optical systems for Xenon and LED stroboscopic inspection lights. Job elements include product specification, management of product development from concept through launch, component selection, design, simulation, PCB layout, test, hands on lab work, and product documentation. This position will also involve the introduction of continuous design improvements to production products. This job will generally be performed in an office, but may require domestic and international travel to visit a client's office, production facility or industrial job site.

You will need to be able to work independently and within a small cross functional team environment. You will need to be willing to broaden your horizons and acquire new areas of expertise. You will be a key project contributor and a project leader with accountability for specific project results.

 

 

All applicants should possess the following:

 

 

Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering and over five years prior experience related to electrical systems and new product development.

Excellent computer skills and experience with: Product documentation tools (Microsoft Suite), Simulation tools (MathCad, PSPICE), Schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium), Mechanical design tools (SolidWorks), Lab tools and Test Equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers etc.), Product data management tools (Macola, Globe)

Demonstrated competencies in design of power electronics is a must. Proven circuit level designs in AC/DC, DC/DC power conversion. Working knowledge of switched-mode power supplies and its power conversion topologies like PFC, boost/buck/flyback converter resonant or forward converters. Understanding of current and voltage waveforms in power conversion circuits.

Expertise in analog electronics with extensive knowledge of the operation of Op-amps, PWM chips, Power MOSFETs, Analog multiplexers, A/D converters, discrete devices, EMI filtering, transient protection, simulation/test. Experienced in all aspects of power magnetic design and fabrication techniques (transformer, chokes or inductors) is required.

Experience and knowledge of battery charging design circuitry (including Lithium - Ion).

Design experience with digital electronics (e.g. microprocessors, Embedded microcontroller Designs, DSPs, CPLDs, FPGAs). Experience with one or more communications protocols (e.g. Ethernet, CAN, RS422/485/232, I^2C, SPI).

Knowledge of printed circuit board design with emphasis on isolation, EMI management, grounding, conductive heat dissipation, and minimized packaging is preferred.

Design experience in the following areas is desirable: LED lighting, Discharge lamps, Optical designs, Mechanical designs, Domestic and International regulatory approvals, Familiarity with DFM/DFX.

Experience in New Product Development with an understanding of a production environment (assembly, test, failure analysis, etc.).

As the design owner throughout the entire lifecycle of a product, you will be responsible for activities involving concept, design / development, build-out, integration, and post-production support. You will primarily be responsible for the design and develop of new products or enhancements based on principles of illumination and lighting using a wide range of electrical and electronic products. Work will include electrical design and evaluation, with emphasis on quality, schedule, manufacturability, and cost. Activities will include but are not limited to the following:

 

 

Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate engineering work for a project.

Collect analyze, percolate and refine requirements for new designs.

Analyze reports, drawings, tests, and other data to plan and design work.

Direct and/or participate in job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.

Evaluate 3rd Party Vendor subsystem and components for integration into new designs.

Estimate material, construction, and labor costs, and project timescales and construct plans and specifications for projects, using computer-assisted engineering and design software.

Carry out feasibility studies for new technical innovations.

Identify and select safety critical components as related to engineering and product development.

Working with a high degree of independence and creativity perform product design and development activities to create functional systems and assemblies that conform to pre-established design parameters for application in company products.

Use computer software tools to generate engineering design and build documentation e.g. specification, schematics, layouts, BOM's etc.

Use design and simulation tools as appropriate to expedite product development and reduce overall program risk.

Conduct and participate in design reviews.

Ensure proper interdisciplinary coordination and effective communication on projects.

Perform test and debug at board, component, and subsystem levels.

Create and execute Design verification Test plans to validate functionality and robustness of new designs and to ensure that they meet electrical, thermal, environmental, safety, and EMC requirements.

Work with the regulatory agencies (e.g. UL, FCC) to obtain relevant approvals.

Attend meetings, write reports and give presentations to managers and clients.

Participate in the complete system integration as the HW subsystem owner.

Create user documentation for new products.

Create manufacturing test plans and or test jigs to aid in the production of new and existing products.

Work with manufacturing groups to transition the product from design into production including design input, pilot run and production release. Provide technical direction to supporting personnel to resolve issues related to manufacturing problems.

Monitor products in use to improve on future designs. Conduct routine analysis of existing products to develop options or recommendations for improvements and to resolve design problems of complex scope.

Recommend tools, equipment, procedures, and training to enhance department and personal productivity.

 

 

Production Test Technician

and Special Requirements: Job

Responsibilities:

Final Test Technician position responsible for final production testing and all test procedures. Highly visible, challenging but demanding position. Perform and oversee final production and board level testing. Shall review, evaluate, edit and create were needed, all test procedures related to final assembly, board testing and service test on systems. Shall also evaluate current test fixtures and propose new fixtures where required or where a new fixture would enhance job efficiency. Shall also review QA reporting as pertain to test procedures.
