As the nation's 5th largest public library system with a network of 60
neighborhood libraries, Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is committed to providing
the borough's 2.5 million people quality services and a vibrant learning
environment.
Brooklyn Public Library is seeking a Web Programmer to work in its Web
Applications Group, one of the three groups within Information Technology. Under
the supervision of the Manager of Web Applications, the Web Programmer will play
a key role in the development of new web applications. The Web Programmer works
closely with the other members of the Web Applications team in order to carry
out their responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
* Develop, test, maintain, and support web-based applications and databases
according to organizational needs
* Troubleshoot and debug as needed
* Recommends new web technologies
* Performs other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
* At least 2 years successful professional experience developing dynamic web
applications
* Minimum of 1 year ASP.NET C# experience
* Experience in Windows/IIS server environments
* Thorough understanding of databases and SQL. Should possess the ability to
manually update data records using hand-written SQL.
* Strong proficiency with XHTML, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript desirable
* Ability to work as a member of a team
* Ability to comply with branding, styles and SDLC determined by Web
Applications & other departments
* SharePoint experience is a plus; PHP helpful
* BS Degree in Computer Science or Information Science preferred
