Lean, Six Sigma and TOC in Today's Workplace noon - 1 pm Oct 12
This is an overview of the main process improvement techniques in use today.

Alliance Networking - Increase Your Odds of Landing an Interview.
1-2 pm Oct 12
This is an interesting technique to use as part of a job search which should
dramatically increase your odds of getting a call from a target company
you've applied to. It uses a knowledge of probability and human behavior
and is a counter-intuitive approach for most people.

About Bill Bentley -

Why do we do Process Improvement (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.) certification
training? The job market has changed dramatically in the past decade. It's
no longer enough to have years of relevant experience, an undergraduate
degree or even an advanced degree.

The cynical view is that employers are increasingly using certifications of
all types to help them screen potential applicants for jobs. Whether this
eventually proves to provide any long-term benefits to them or not, it
provides a short-term benefit in reducing candidate flow in an overcrowded
job applicant pool. As a result, otherwise qualified applicants often get
screened out because of a missing industry or topical certification.

A more proactive view is that employers prefer candidates with a knowledge
of current relevant business topics. Six Sigma and Lean are two such topics
that of are great interest to many employers. Candidates who distinguish
themselves by displaying credentials in these areas will appeal to more
employers than those who don't. People who have taken the initiative to
educate themselves in current business improvement methodologies have a
distinct edge when competing in a tough job market.

Commercial courses which are aimed towards corporate-reimbursed students are
often too expensive for job seekers or those who are forced to purchase
their own training. That's how Value-Train was formed by a frustrated job
seeker, me, who had recently been rejected from a job for which I was
perfectly suited. First I got mad and then got even, by forming
Value-Train.

We call the company Value-Train because we provide the best value in the USA
for the training we do, and know our training is valuable for those who take
it. Constant feedback from thousands of graduates confirms this. Look at a
sample of some of our testimonials
<http://www.value-train.com/testimonials.htm> to see what I mean.

Best of success to you and hope to see you at a future Value-Train session!
