Kathleen Barret, President & CEO of the IIBA to Visit in October
  Kathleen Barret

Kathleen Barret, CEO of the IIBA will be presenting our Annual General Meeting on October 14th. Kathleen's presentation is titled Business Analysis: Helping Business Do Business Better. Encourage your manager, supervisor and executives to attend this meeting.

While Kathleen is in the area, she will be meeting with executives and BAs from Chubb, sanofi-aventis, UPS, Glaxo SmithKine, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, AmeriHealth and other companies and government entities.

The October meeting will be held at sanofi-aventis, 55 Corporate Drive N., Bridgewater and will begin at 5:30. Register to attend

DID YOU KNOW? - Kathleen also holds Screen-side Chats quarterly. The next Chat is scheduled for December 7th. You can view more information about her chats by clicking here.

In June of 2009, Kathleen Barret became the IIBA's full-time President and CEO after having held the role as a volunteer since the organization's inception in October 2003. With over 25 years of experience in IT, Kathleen has held many roles including most recently, managing offshore software development work for a large financial service organization. Her involvement in the field of business analysis began when she was asked to create a center of competency for BAs for her company. She is experienced in CCMI and benchmarking, and through her many years of consulting, brings cross-industry knowledge to her role at IIBA.
Board Elections

At our Annual General Meeting, we hold Board Elections. If you are interested in running for any of the following positions or know someone who might be interested, please complete the Nomination Form and email it to Bob Posch (rposch@Chubb.com) before Oct. 14th.

  • Secretary
  • VP Communications
  • VP Membership
  • VP Professional Development
Nominations may also be made from the floor. You may download the Nomination Procedures. For a complete description of each position, please visit the Chapter website.
The Value of Membership at the International Level

You may think that the $95 International Membership fee is high but how much would you pay for the following? Your $95 gives you access to everything below.

  • The online library worth over $15,000
  • The newly released BABOK Learning Guide which correlates books in the library with the BABOK v2.0 sections for easy cross-reference
  • Regular IIBA webinars and email
  • Archived webinars which can be viewed and used for Continuing Education Credit
  • Quick Tips available only to members
  • Early distribution of the upcoming BABOK Extensions, such as the just released Agile extension draft for review
  • IIBA Community website with dozens of relevant discussion groups
  • Copyrighted presentation materials such as the study group guide with built-in exercises and quizzes
  • Ability to download and print the BABOK without charge

Every year, the value of being an International Member grows. We've never seen anything like the library - you can read everything online - ALL OF IT! With a cup of coffee and your computer it's like being at Borders - but better because it's all about business analysis and it never closes.
Yearly Membership Drive

With your help, our Chapter continues to grow. This year we held meetings every month - we didn't even take the summer off.  Some of the highlights this year include

  • A Career Forum
  • Requirements Using Use Stories
  • Defining Non-Functional Requirements
  • Establishing an Enterprise BA Practice
  • Joint meetings with NJ SPIN
  • Last year our average meeting attendance was ~40. This year our average is ~50 per meeting.
  • The creation of BABOK Study Groups at various companies
  • A steady membership of ~90

In 2011 we'd like to increase our membership to 150 or more.  If you've been thinking of joining the Chapter, doing so now. Your membership will be good through December 2011.

Your $25 Membership Goes a Long Way

  • Pays for your attendance at all monthly meetings - At a $15 fee as a non-member, your membership pays for itself at the 2nd meeting.
  • Allows you access to IIBA BABOK study materials
  • Helps to bring experts in the field of Business Analysis to the Chapter as speakers
  • Helps to defray the cost of venues and dinners
  • Pays for operations, such as the yearly fee for this email / invitation / registration application
  • You can always view our upcoming events at the Chapter website

Chapter dues are $25 per year (Jan - Dec.) You must be a member at the International level before joining at the Chapter level. Anyone joining after September 14, 2010 will have membership through December 2011.

You can use PayPal to pay your dues or send a check to the VP of Membership. To join now, click here.
