Network Operations Engineer
Reporting to: Network Operations Manager
Description:
Provide day to day support of the Global Voice and Data Network. Resolving
Network issues raised via the helpdesk and associated management platforms.
Required to provide regular reporting for faults and performance against
pre-defined SLAs. Manage fault escalation whilst retaining ownership.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
* Good understanding of firewall principles and knowledge of
mainstream firewall products is an advantage. (PIX, Checkpoint, Netscreen)
* Working Knowledge of VPN including SSL, GRE and IPSec.
* Sound understanding of routing protocols and ability to resolve
routing issues (ISIS, EIGRP, BGP,)
* Excellent knowledge of Cisco hardware and configuration including
IOS and CatOS. Knowledge of other vendors is an advantage.
* Strong Voice knowledge on traditional voice systems including dealer
system connectivity
* Knowledge of wide area protocols and bandwidth providers
* Aware of escalation procedures and process.
* Knowledge of VoIP, Multicast, QOS, Ciscoworks, Cisco ACS is
advantageous.
* Strong Process oriented attitude and aware of ITIL structure
* Understanding of Windows and Unix platforms
* Capable of dealing with fault management systems including HPOV and
Helpdesk
Person Specification
The candidate must have previous experience of working within large scale
complex IT environments which include voice and data services in the banking
industry.
Resilient team player who is goal-orientated and fully committed. Willing
to explain, demonstrate and expand on own ideas.
Experience/Skills Required
Essential:
* 10 + yearsNetwork (Voice and Data) experience.
* CCIE certified
* Working Knowledge of PIX, Checkpoint and Netscreen Firewall hardware
* Working Knowledge of VPN Concentrator's
* Working Knowledge of Routing Protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)
* Working Knowledge of some of the following - VOIP, Multicast, QOS,

Job Description:
· Lead the process of compiling, analyzing, designing, testing and prioritizing system design components and implementation of the Life Insurance Platform.
· Requires the candidate's knowledge of the theory and practice of systems analysis, systems design, and systems implementation.
· Helps with technical testing, ensuring that the unit and system tests were performed.
· Reviews the test results in the absence of a Senior Systems Analyst on the project.
· Provides leadership/guidance to team members. Tasks include data gathering and analysis; system specifications; systems design and implementation; logical design; detailed design; implementing a secure design; and system evaluation, integration, vetting, modification, troubleshooting, and optimization.
· May work as a senior member of a team providing production support for new/existing systems of high complexity and scope.
