Why faster horses don't always win the race ...

"If I had bothered to ask people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." Henry Ford

Henry Ford's success resulted from envisioning a different future--one that was unencumbered from traditional thinking.

Similarly, job seekers must become detached from traditional thinking about the work environment. To be competitive as a job seeker today, you need to understand alternative employment models.

Two such models will be discussed at the July 18 WNO meeting. Frank Dunne, a Hudson Valley owner of FranNet, will talk about entrepreneurism and franchised business ownership. Joe Chu, President/CEO of Chu Holding Company LLC, will talk about his journey in starting a privately owned laundry mat business.

Come to the July 18 WNO meeting and learn how break away from traditional thinking. Reserve your seat now by registering at http://wno20110718.eventbrite.com/.

Temporary Contact

This will be located in downtown Manhattan - 125-150k.

(4-6 months). A candidate with some TM1 admin experience, once they get
educated in our specific processes, could do things like the following:

- Apply and run security changes

- Perform manual hierarchy adjustments and new builds starting in
our Excel hierarchy control files

- Populate the Cost center library and run hierarchy builds

- Run Debt Issuance data load

- Run FSR data loads

- Assist with collecting our GL maintenance from the finance
community. Especially the areas here that strongly related to our Cost
Center Library and Reporting system

- Assist with various Reporting tasks for data pulls and loads
using our Cost center Library, TM1 data loading, and Excel models

- Answer user TM1 questions while directing specific support to
other groups. (E.g. - Network access issues)

- Help with data tie outs and issue research in current PROD. Also
perform reconciliations between current PROD and future TM1 at high and
medium summary levels

- Assist in many of the hierarchy transitions.

o Note: This one will have different levels of conversion as some
hierarchies map over completely and others have to be analyzed. Again this
is more of an assist as overall, I expect Michael to lead these new
hierarchy implementations and communicates to the finance community.

- We might have the admin do the estimate and budget version data
copies too.

Depending on how well and efficiently the above type of task are handled by
this resource, we also could add some of the following additional task:

- Assist in parallel maintenance of codes, hierarchies, excel data
marts for new TM1 system

- Develop and streamline all the above mentioned support procedures

- Help create business unit specific process documentation

o Note: This is in addition to expected TM1 specific documentation
received from technical consulting team.

o Additional documentation would be more related to Data mart control
files and Segment System (Michael and I) maintenance procedures

- Depending on candidates Excel & VBA skills, assist in any
recoding and transitioning of Excel Data marts.

o Many of these data mart control files have formulas that we are
expecting to perform very slow in Excel 2010 file formats

o VLOOKUP and other formulas need to be transitioned to well named
ranges instead of columns.

- Time willing, any other related tasks not yet identified

The old paradigm of climb up a stable career ladder is dead and gone

Posted by: "mgrey" maurene.grey@grey-consulting.com   maurenegrey

"Hoffman argues that professionals need an entirely new mind-set and skill set to compete. "The old paradigm of climb up a stable career ladder is dead and gone," he said to me. 'No career is a sure thing anymore. The uncertain, rapidly changing conditions in which entrepreneurs start companies is what it's now like for all of us fashioning a career. Therefore you should approach career strategy the same way an entrepreneur approaches starting a business.'"
