Title: Chief Architect

Location: Bridgewater, NJ

The Challenge:

Our client, a Fortune 500 company, is seeking a Chief Architect to be responsible for providing effective architectural leadership for the client development solution line of the company. The incumbent will ensure ongoing development, maintenance, and delivery of technical knowledge and expertise and the technical feasibility of large development projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide consultancy, leadership, and promote Software Engineering best practices
· Proactively monitor the Business Unit system health and design and write proposals to remedy the cause of negative trends
· Plan for the evolution of the Business Unit systems, including the retirement and replacement of existing systems
· Responsible for developing, within the e-commerce framework, an architecture solution allowing the client development business to effectively integrate capabilities and content from its different products into new attractive offerings to the marketplace
· Provide architecture and design for large development efforts
· Respond to enterprise security issues, quickly designing and implementing solutions to respond to security incidents
· Proactively research, monitor, learn, and assess industry/technology advancements and continually build alliances to explore ways to leverage and advance our technical opportunities
· Perform technical evaluations of new technology and acquisition candidates as required
· Provide functional leadership for the architects within the global architecture team.
· Review and approve changes to infrastructure sub-systems and components
· Influencing the e-commerce architecture to ensure it effectively supports the needs of the business unit
· Assist in the development of comprehensive information security procedures and practices and deployment of a detailed security audit
· Proactively monitor new development to discover sub-systems or components which should be evolved into shared infrastructure
· Responsible for effective implementation of the enterprise e-commerce architecture for product and service delivery.
· Other duties as assigned

Essential Skills and Requirements:

Must have a BS in computer science or related field, Masters preferred, plus 7-10 years experience
Business acumen, strategic planning and ability to operate within a matrix environment.
Expert in a plurality of the following technologies and/or areas: ASP applications architecture; SaaS; Web 2.0; .Net; Information Retrieval, Data management, Data Mining, Natural Language Processing, Very Large Scale Databases, Declarative Languages, and High Performance Computing. Solid working knowledge in a plurality of the following areas: Network Design (LAN and WAN), Storage System Architectures, Service Oriented Architecture technologies, XML and XSLT, and Parallel Processing Architectures (such as SMP, NUMA). Experience with a plurality of the following operating systems: Windows Server, UNIX (Linux), and z/OS. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrates strong problem solving skills. Can remain at the big picture level while being able to roll up his/her sleeves.
