AT&T Mobility is seeking a Director of Device User Experience Design to shape the overall vision, mission and business model for enhancing the user experience on AT&T mobile devices. This individual will create, communicate and integrate the mission for the AT&T user experience, complete with follow through with the processes and tactics to implement the vision. He/She will work to measurably improve the success of the customer user experience in driving revenues and customer loyalty through successful implementation of the user experience strategy. This person will be a proven and well-known thought leader in user experience and design innovations for Mobility, and he/she will oversee all work on user experience & design across the Mobility portfolio of devices.

Additional responsibilities:
Partner with others in the broader AT&T design community to develop and extend an AT&T Experience across the array of AT&T assets (in-home, broadband & mobile)
Develop and manage a team of designers and design project managers
Collaborate with internal clients to define and prioritize user experience requirements and create an implementation roadmap, based on business need and market opportunity
Develop user experience specifications and work with 3rd party providers and suppliers to implement specifications, driving suppliers to create UI/UE roadmaps to meet requirements
Help AT&T develop a leadership position by successfully turning user experience trends, consumer insights and industry knowledge into actionable product and service opportunities. Success in these endeavors will be measured by customer behavior
Define customer-centric UI/UE measurement criteria and test to ensure the User Experience delivers positive results as related to revenue generation, ease of use and customer loyalty
Create a UI/UE framework or design language that allows for easy extensibility of the AT&T UE as new features or services arise
Develop branding guidelines for hardware and software that deliver best-in-class branding and resonates with customers
Designing and implementing "out-of-the- box" experiences, leveraging best-practice knowledge of consumer packaged goods/consumer electronics, that delight customers, increase satisfaction and support the cross-selling of additional services and accessories
 
Qualifications
 
Required Qualifications:
 
EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the wireless industry and current trends in UI/UE within device vendors and wireless carriers. He/she will have a strong sense and intuition for usability and design, with the ability to balance creativity and practicality. This individual will be a proven performer with measurable successes leading to positive bottom-line results. Interpersonally, this person will need to have the ability to build consensus and work across organizational boundaries.
Additionally, this person will possess:
6-8 years experience in user interface and human factors design for handheld consumer electronics products, handheld computers and/or other mobile devices
3-6 years experience managing teams, preferably comprising diverse disciplines including marketing, design and technical resources
At least 3 years experience leading design efforts utilizing 3rd party suppliers with demonstrable short-term and long-term results
Specific experience in the wireless industry, either with a wireless carrier, manufacturer or wireless software design firm
Strong knowledge of handheld device software architecture and RTOS environments.
Strong people management, coaching and counseling skills
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Superior written and oral communication skills, including interpersonal and negotiation skills

Perform as a dedicated team player, capable of operating effectively with a minimum of direction, and enjoy significant operational interaction with senior corporate executives. Comfortable "rolling up their sleeves" and participating at a tactical level when necessary.
Possess impeccable standards of ethical and moral conduct.
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Design or similar field, with a Bachelor or Masters Degree in Marketing strongly desired
