Community Liaison for Manhattan Community Boards 1 and 3
Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer seeks a Community Liaison to be
part of his collaborative, energetic, and innovative team. The prospective
staff member must be committed to seeking out new and better ways for the
office to connect with, and deliver for, Manhattan's diverse neighborhoods,
communities, and constituents. The Community Liaison would represent the
Borough President's office in Community Boards 1 and 3 (Lower Manhattan,
Tribeca, Chinatown Town, East Village and Lower East Side) and work under
the supervision of the Borough President's Director of Community Affairs &
Constituent Services.
Specific responsibilities include:
Serve as the Borough President's primary representative in Community Boards
1 & 3;
Staff the Borough President at events throughout both districts and
represent the Borough President at community meetings;
Maintain relationships with district stakeholders including community
boards, block associations, tenant associations, non-profit organizations,
business improvements districts (BID) and schools;
Identify new/emerging community groups to build relationships with on behalf
of the Borough President;
Identify emerging community issues and help guide the office's response;
Conduct community outreach around office initiatives, events and press
conferences;
Maintain contact with the offices of local elected officials representing
Community Boards 1 & 3;
Serve as a point person for the Borough President's Community Board, BID and

Specific job requirements include:
· Bachelor's degree;
· At least two years of public service experience strongly
preferred, i.e. community organizing, campaign, government, or non-profit
work experience
· Familiarity with the issues facing Manhattan communities including
some knowledge of the areas included in Community Boards 1 and 3;
· Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize,
meet deadlines and maintain consistent attention to details;
· Highly energetic;
· Outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational
skills;

Experienced underwriter needed for private, national community development
financial institution which caters to the small business, nonprofit and
community economic development sector with a focus on underserved
markets. Underwriter
will prepare and make credit recommendations by underwriting new credit

· Minimum of 3-5 years credit and financial experience in bank
lending, community development lending, credit analysis, or loan

Internal Audit (IA) supports the Board of Directors' Audit Committee and
senior firm leadership in fulfilling their oversight roles by

IA is comprised of the following global functional audit teams covering the

This month, TCN explores the myriad of job possibilities in the rising
"Green Economy." What do sustainable jobs look like? Where do I find them?
What options are there for these jobs? How do I create a green job for
myself?

Basic topics covered are: the primary business premises behind
sustainability, identifying the green jobs in fourteen different industry
sectors, specific steps you can take to prepare for a green job and steps to
take to create sustainability in an existing job. Side questions that
typically get answered include: Why should I care about adding
sustainability to my skill set? What defines a job as sustainable?

TCN's July 26th meeting will feature a talk by special guest Paul Cecala,
who will present:

Paul Cecala, a Five O'Clock Club Certified Career Coach, has been coaching
since 1999 and has assisted over 2,300 people in either changing careers or
starting their professional lives. He has worked for several post-secondary
career schools as Director of Career Services specializing in "Green
Economy" jobs, aviation, allied health, IT and general administrative
professions. Paul is an Adjunct Instructor at the County College of Morris
on sustainable careers; and he is the Career Coach in Residence for the
Morris County Career Network. Additionally, he has helped develop the job
search training process of the NJ Department of Labor-sponsored Professional
Services Group.

As a student of the job search process, Paul finds particular interest in
resume writing, networking and securing offers from the interview. Paul has
presented over 400 seminars on topics ranging from career pathing to
interview follow-up for organizations including schools like Lincoln
Technical Schools, Centenary College, Florida Institute of Technology,
University of Connecticut and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University;
networking and job search groups like the NJ Dept. of Labor Professional
Services Group and Princeton Job Seekers; and social clubs like Montclair
Divorce Support Group and Out Professionals of NYC.

Paul has a BS in Psychology from Florida Institute of Technology. Prior to
career coaching, he had a long career in corporate aviation sales. His final
position in this arena was Vice President of Aircraft Charter Sales for a
nation-wide industry leader.

Founded in 1970 as the NOW LDEF, Legal Momentum, the Women's Legal Defense and
Education Fund (www.legalmomentumorg) is the oldest legal advocacy
organizationdedicated to advancing the rights of women and girls. Its
mission is to secure economic and personal security for women and girls which it
accomplishes through strategic litigation and public policy work. Its key areas
of focus are freedom fromviolence against women, increasing pathways to quality
employment opportunities for women, protecting workplace rights of vulnerable
populations and strengthening the safety net for women and families.

Legal Momentum also runs several longstanding programs of national scope. The
Immigrant Women Program provides expertise on the rights and services available
to immigrant victims of domestic and other violence. The National Judicial
Education Program to Promote Equality for Women and Men in the Courts (NJEP)
educates judges and justice system professionals about the ways gender bias may
adversely affect the spectrum of civil, criminal, family and juvenile
proceedings, and how to prevent it.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President of Legal Momentum will
provide the overall leadership, direction and strategic vision for the
organization. In addition to managing day-to-day operations and activities, the
President will be expected to serve as a charismatic and effective leader and
spokesperson in furthering the organization's mission.

Working collaboratively with the Board of Directors and staff, the President
will be the primary external representative to all constituencies, including
funders. The President will ensure that the organization and programs are
fiscally and administratively sound, and that the organization's activities are
