Sourcing DBE's

Posted by: "Keith Bogen SPHR" keith.bogen@yahoo.com   hrslugger2002

Tue Aug 10, 2010 8:39 pm (PDT)

I am working on DBE perm position for client in NYC. I have posted to 15
different sites,
both nationally and locally. I have posted to 10 LinkedIn groups. I have
approached LinkdeIn folks directly
for interest and for referrals. I have approached by email some NYC recruiters
requesting advice on recruiting
in NYC. I have aleady places one DBE early this year and one PHP Application
Developer with this NYC client.
My first DBE came out of Dice at $895 for one month of resume searches and one
posting for one month.
I was trying other sources this time before going back to Dice, which I will
probably do, as all my other efforts
have only resulted in three overseas applicants needing visa sponsorship and
relocation, neither of which my
small client with only 25 staff wants to do. Even passive search and reaching
out for potential interest has not
been helpful or responsive. I have also tried user groups and professional
orgs, too.

Do you have any advice? Do you know any NYC recruiters or recruiters who work
NYC, whom I can get to
chat with me for advice? The NY recruiting and candidates scene is very
different from Seattle. Where here
a CraigsList posting yield many candidates, there very few, mostly recent
college/grad school folks and overseas
candidates need visas or want to work remotely.

You help is greatly appreciated and needed.
