Position Responsibilities - Summary
The Investment Administration (IA) Support team provides support and
enhancements to approximately 300 internal business unit staff within
Investment Administration and Client Operations groups.
The group provides support for a majority of middle to back office
investment management activities such as trade operations, reconciliation,
derivatives operations, performance systems, pricing, security master and
fund administration areas (25+ applications). The Senior Systems Analyst
support function is a role which requires a high level of interaction with
business, excellent analytical and communications skills, experience with
database technologies including SQL and Oracle and strong middle to back
office operational support/workflow knowledge.
Key Responsibilities;
· Provide comprehensive user support, particularly with respect to
investment data and operational issues. Track, resolve, and report on
support and enhancement requests, in a timely and thorough manner.
· Ensure continuous availability and operational resiliency of a
suite of IA applications and related components.
· Establish and maintain effective client relationships by having a
high degree of continuous interaction with the end users.
· Work with business users and the IS team to proactively identify
opportunities for new and improved systems.
· Take ownership of issues in a 24x7 production environment and
collaborate with other teams on remediation and lead them through
completion.
· Provide support for other Firmwide initiatives such as Disaster
Recovery testing, Database upgrades, security audits, infrastructure
upgrades, etc.
· Stay abreast of the 'state of the art' as it relates to
Operations, both within Wellington and throughout the industry.
· Coordinate/work closely with consultant teams (onshore/offshore)
to plan, estimate and deliver solutions.
· Proactively identify systems/process issues and gaps to minimize
incidents.
· Key to this role is business communication, expectations
management, prompt support, follow-ups and status reporting.
Keys to This Position:
1. Strong Systems Analysis skills along with a strong technical
background. This role is somewhat more technical than most SA roles. This
candidate needs to primarily be an Analyst but will also understand
technical design and architecture.
2. Technical: PL/SQL required. Java is a plus
3. Domain: This candidate will have a strong understanding of the Back
Office including Client Operations, Fund Administration and Trade
Operations. The candidate does not necessarily need to have exposure to all
three, but the more the better.
4. Strong Client Relationship and Project Management skills would be a
plus.
Required Skills and Competencies:
· Relevant professional experience in a similar role in either
Investment Management or Financial Services.
· Strong understanding of the middle and back office investment
management areas.
· Previous experience acting in a business analysis/developer
capacity, including software requirements gathering is preferred.
· Strong SQL query skills and experience with Oracle/SQL Server
relational databases and tools.
· Prior hands-on experience with Java/Unix/Weblogic solutions a
strong plus.
· Strong crisis and incident management skills with prior experience
in a 24x7 support role.
· Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical
production environment with rapidly changing priorities.
· Change agent, creative, innovative and focused on continuous
improvements.
· Bachelor's degree is required; Computer Science or MIS degree is
preferred.
