Summary:
The firm's Application Teams utilizes a centralized development DBA team to
support its ongoing development initiatives and provide day-to-day systems
support. This Systems Engineer function will specialize in offering DBA
support to application development teams. This individual will meet
regularly with development teams to understand their day-to-day and
strategic long-term needs. This will be "hands on position" with
opportunities to experiment and learn new technologies.
Required Skills and Competencies:
· Minimum 8 years experience as an Oracle Database Administrator
supporting enterprise critical production databases on LINUX and
UNIX/Solaris
· Good communication skills, both written and verbal
· Good PL/SQL programming skills
· Good understanding of Oracle Internals (Memory, Dictionary,
Optimizer, etc)
· Good understanding Oracle 11g new features in the context of
application enhancement
· Good understanding of Oracle 11g optimizer and differences between
older versions
· Experience in PL/SQL and SQL code tuning
· Good "Client" focus while dealing with application development
teams
· Proven multi-tasking experience across multiple simultaneous
initiatives
· Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to a dynamic
environment
· Experience in advanced technologies such as partitioning, queuing,
replication etc.
· Good understanding of database object types such as tables,
indexes, pl/sql, types, sequences, synonyms..etc.
· Good knowledge of Oracle 11g installs, config and patching
· Excels in critical thinking
· Good knowledge of Oracle utilities and tools such as sqlplus, sql
loader, OEM, GRID, OCM etc
· Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
Optional Job Requirements:
· MS SQL Server experience
· Sybase ASE experience
· Financial Services Industry end-user or vendor experience.

Position Responsibilities - Summary
Manages on-site and offshore business analysts, leads technology and system
integration initiatives, and evaluates and recommends technologies to
achieve business objectives.
Position Responsibilities
· Manages a dynamic team of business analysts in support of company
web-site(s) and other related technologies in support of Sales and
Distribution. Assists clients in developing system strategies to achieve
business goals and efficiencies. Evaluates and prioritizes projects for
Sales and Distribution. Adheres to company Project Management Methodology
(PMM) and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Manages daily issues
affecting production systems including assigning and delegating assignments.
· Coaches team members on technology best practices, resolution
management, and effective communication. Provides periodic feedback to team
members both formally and informally.
· Serves as the relationship manager for business partner groups, as
assigned. Acts as initial contact for evaluating application needs.
Oversees process for reviewing and evaluating all end-user requests for
systems projects such as applications to be developed or purchased. Working
with department heads and technical representatives, researches
appropriateness of requests and helps to prioritize on a corporate-level.
Acts as the primary liaison between IT and business units.
· Manages complex projects impacting the various platforms for
company online systems. Leads and manages large-scale technology projects,
including planning, budgeting and implementation. Provides high-level
strategic technology recommendations.
· Holds team members accountable for deliverables, creates project
plans, business requirements documents, functional specifications, and test
plans. Coordinates and engages in hands-on testing of applications. Works
with QA team to create and implement automated regression tests. Effectively
communicates goals, issues, and status across all levels of management.
Possesses a strong focus in delivering both stand-alone, as well as
components of, larger web-based applications.
· Performs system and cost/benefit research and analysis to plan
projects and assist in making buy or build decisions. Works with current
and prospective vendors to investigate and ensure accurate and complete use
of third party software products in company systems environment. Selects
and works with outside consultants when appropriate. Acts as the point of
contact with vendors to review and evaluate new products.
· Acts as project manager for ad-hoc interdepartmental groups formed
to lead meetings, perform analysis, and develop and implement solutions
affecting multiple departments.
Required Skills and Competencies:
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent education or experience.
· Ability to manage multiple high-level projects efficiently. Must
be team oriented and deadline driven.
· Prior working experience and a broad knowledge of current web
technologies and future trends. Demonstrated ability to work effectively
with employees at all organizational levels.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· The ideal candidate will have experience managing people and/or
virtual teams.
· Strong communication skills dealing with internal business
partners, clients, and vendors. Must have a strong service orientation with
enthusiasm for identifying and developing creative solutions to business
issues.
· Ability to take initiative to utilize resources and communicate
effectively. Very strong written skills, ideally with experience writing
technical and functional specifications.
· Experience in the financial services industry required.

· Provide engineering and administrative support to Windows Server
OS, Server Hardware, Active Directory, CIFS filesystems and Citrix XenApp
· Prioritize and respond to problems and incidents. Manage the
service ticket queue on a daily basis. Incorporate security, monitoring and
metering requirements into the Windows Server architecture. Ensure
standardized configurations across the environment.

Required Skills and Competencies:
· 3-5 years of work experience in a similar environment
· Demonstrated high level of competence with analyzing, documenting,
troubleshooting, administering and evaluating: Windows Server, Active
Directory, CIFS filesystems, Citrix XenApp. Knowledge and administration of
VMware ESX server and/or RHEL a plus.
· Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding
environment
· High level of competence in process simplification and automation;
the ability to develop, document and implement new strategies and SOPs for
use within the team
· High level of competence with Windows scripting, both command and
vbscript. Powershell experience a plus.
· Experience managing servers in a Data Center environment.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to work
effectively within a collaborative team and with a wide range of
constituencies in a diverse community
· Knowledge of financial business practices and procedures a plus
