Position #1: Oracle DBA Manager, Salary to $150,000

Job Description:

DBA Manager to lead several groups of DBA's supporting DBMS's on various platforms for the Financial Management System (FMS). This consists primarily of Oracle 11g running on AIX, but also includes SQL Plus running in Microsoft and DB2 v9 running on the Mainframe Z/OS platform. The DBA Manager will be responsible for managing staff that are responsible for the administration of Oracle databases for financial applications. Responsibilities include installation/upgrades, configuration, and tuning of Oracle 11g databases. S/he will be responsible for the setup and administration of monitoring software, database backups (using RMAN and Symantec Netbackup), and working with the job scheduling team to implement and support Database backup and maintenance scripts into the Batch Schedule. Responsibilities will also include creating and validating procedures for all database processes. The position encompasses all Database Administration technical and planning responsibilities, including developing project implementation and backup planning, designing, configuring, installing, testing, troubleshooting, integrating, performance monitoring, maintaining, enhancing, security management, and support. The Database Administration team also participates in quarterly disaster recovery testing.

 

Preferred Skills:

Ability to perform at varying levels of difficulty and with varying degrees of latitude for independent initiative and judgment. The candidate must possess excellent organizational abilities, ability to motivate staff, implement and improve processes, develop staff's knowledge and career path, interact with senior management, assess staff's abilities and delegate and monitor work assignments. Candidate should have thorough knowledge of AIX, and knowledge of EMC storage techniques including Business Continuity Volumes (BCV), a plus.

Position #2: Oracle DBA, salary to $125,000

Job Description:

The Database Administrator will be responsible for Production and non-production Databases running Oracle 11 g on an AIX platform. Responsibilities include operational support and troubleshooting of databases, including excellent knowledge of installation, configuration, patching, and, backup/restoring Oracle databases using RMAN.  Responsibilities also include working with the Application development teams to migrate releases/hot fixes and implement data fixes, as well as working with integration vendor to obtain permanent fixes for any SQL changes. Responsibilities may also include participating in quarterly Disaster Recovery testing. Participation in on-call 24/7 rotation is required for problem determination/resolution and off-hours implementations.  The DBA will also participate in tasks relating to Oracle Performance and Capacity Planning, including SQL analysis and tuning, as well as Oracle system parameter tuning. Candidate should possess a strong methodology and excellent skills for performance analysis of online, reporting, and batch performance issues, as identified by long running processes or excessive resource utilization, as well as suggestions for SQL and database tuning changes to improve response time.  Capacity Planning aspects for the Production and non-production databases include monitoring and reporting on disk and table utilization, growth analysis and recommendations for adding space, as well as DB memory analysis/tuning, review of DB filesystem layouts and recommendations for improved performance.

 

Preferred Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong methodology and excellent skills for performance analysis of online, reporting, and batch performance issues, as identified by long running processes or excessive resource utilization, as well as suggestions for SQL and database tuning changes to improve response time. Good knowledge of scripting, with the ability to automate processes is also required. Excellent skill is required for troubleshooting and problem resolution in a timely manner. Knowledge of Oracle Gateway, OEM Grid Control, EMC Symmtrix using BCVs, and Precise 13 is a strong plus, as is knowledge of Mainframe DB2 and MS SQL Server DBs. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills. In addition, the candidate will be interacting with Technical staff, Integration vendors, and senior management and must possess excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.

Position #3: Oracle DBA: salary to $100,000

Job Description:

Sr. Oracle Database Administrator who will provide support of production and development environments for automated time keeping system. Primary responsibilities will be to provide operational DBA support activities for the application. Activities will include monitoring and support of production and test environments, support of code migrations, DDL changes, data changes, database performance and tuning, data refreshes of test environments, backup and recovery, installation and patching of Oracle software, and general administration of Oracle databases.

 

Preferred Skills:

10+ years of Oracle database administration on a Unix Sun/Solaris environment.  Strong experience with Oracle Streaming and Replication, Oracle ASM storage management. Strong experience with Oracle RAC implementations, SQL coding and tuning.  Experience with Oracle 11G. Oracle RAC. Oracle Grid, RMAN, Unix Shell scripting, database tuning, and configuration. Individual will be required to provide production 24/7 coverage on rotating shift and support weekend implementations. S/he will be working with an enterprise wide, large scale implementation.  Excellent Communications skills (Oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
