[itroundtable] NNJ ASTD - “The Urgent Need to Meet the Needs of Business” - Oct7 - ToysRus

"The Urgent Need to Meet the Needs of Business" -
What do Companies Need to Do to Demonstrate Value to Business?

Please join us for this outstanding Professional Development Event!

REGISTER HERE

In 1959, Don Kirkpatrick first published his now world-wide industry standard four levels of evaluation – reaction, learning, behavior, and results.  Unfortunately, over the fifty years since, our industry has only gotten half of them right – Levels 1 and 2.  Jim Kirkpatrick has written a book coming out soon called Training on Trial that offers words of warning that our "free pass" from business leaders as being of value to the business is over.  What are the charges against us?  That our costs exceed our value.

We must now not only create value to the business, but demonstrate that value.  Join Jim and some of your practitioner colleagues as they show you that not only is our very industry in jeopardy because of our inaction, but that the opportunity has never been greater, as business leaders and external clients around the country and beyond are looking for answers.  We believe we have some of them, and we look forward to sharing them with you in this unique venue!

This event will be an interactive session with Jim Kirkpatrick, Ph.D., Jim Hashman, Division Director, Sales  Learning & Development, Comcast University, and Tali Ramos, Manager, Instructional Design, Toys "R" Us.

About our event's primary Presenter:

Jim Kirkpatrick, PhD, is the Vice President of Global Training and Consulting for SMR USA. He presents workshops for and provides consulting to Fortune 500 companies around the world, primarily in the field of evaluation.  Jim has consulted with clients including Harley-Davidson, Booz Allen Hamilton, L'Oreal, Clarian, Ingersoll Rand, Honda, the Royal Air Force, and GE Healthcare.

Jim's major areas of expertise are implementing... the four levels of evaluation, coaching managers to reinforce training, the business partnership model, and executing strategy.

Prior to joining SMR USA in 2007, Jim was the director of the corporate university at First Indiana Bank.  Since 1995, Jim has developed and managed a career development center, worked on senior strategic planning teams, and consulted with organizations all across the world in topics of evaluation, team building, coaching, and leadership, and conducted executive coaching.

Jim and the rest of his SMR team have a partnership with Training Magazine, which includes hosting an annual Kirkpatrick Evaluation Summit each February.

Jim has co-written 3 books with his father, Don Kirkpatrick, the developer of the four levels.   His cutting edge new book, Training on Trial, co-written with his wife, Wendy is due to be published by AMACOM in Fall 2009.  Jim and Wendy's next book venture will be co-authoring with Drs. Jack and Patti Phillips.
