One of the better articles/blogs I've read on the topic. FYI, don't be mislead by #35. functional resumes have their place, but I agree that a combination can work better than a straight functional.

Reporting to the Director of Software Development, the Business Systems
Analyst will use analytical, technical and organizational skills and
experience to facilitate the identification and implementation of business
and systems solutions. The successful candidate will be the primary liaison
between the business community, technology organization and external
partners for all project requirements during the entire software development
life cycle. Proactively conduct interviews with all project stakeholders to
elicit functional requirements, modeling those requirements in an organized
manner, then managing and communicating those requirements throughout the
project life cycle. Upon establishment of the requirements baseline, he or
she will address change management issues and assist in test planning.

Responsibilities:

. Collaborate with business owners, end users and Subject Matter

. Work with Development and QA to review Use Case documents and
software module test plans.

. Assist in integration testing of new software to ensure that it
meets user expectations and functional needs.

Requirements:

. Bachelors Degree

. 5+ years of Business Analyst/Business Systems Analyst experience

. Knowledge of business process analysis and/or re-engineering using
various methodologies such as RUP and agile methodologies

. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

. Ability to translate complex business needs into use case models

. Experience in the editing and review of software user
documentation.

. Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication
skills.

. Goal oriented with proven history of meeting deadlines.

. Project Management experience a plus

Design and develop reports using SZL, RPG, AS/400 Query language and various other tools on both mid-range and PC platforms.
Design and develop programs to interface the company's business systems data with other platforms including MS SQL, Oracle and other RDBMS.
Provide end user ERP system support.
Administer user security, system job management and peripheral setup and configuration on a mid-range platform.
Install, upgrade, maintain and test software used to support the company's business systems.
 
Qualifications/Skills/Expertise:

Work well with all levels of people
Good Communication skills
Identify specific training/skills/education/experience
Midrange experience with the AS/400 system
Minimum 7 years experience

Below is the job description to which I am referring for a current job opening located in Charlotte, NC:

Responsibilities
Provide QA testing for Calypso Services – including Calypso Risk Service (CRS) and Calypso Gateway (CGW).  These applications operate in a service-based architecture with internally developed code.  Requests to the service are primarily for trade information, market data and price valuation from Calypso.  Business line coverage includes global rates, foreign exchange, municipal, structured and credit derivatives.  Candidate will need to work closely with development teams to understand changes to the architecture and bug fixes and enhancements to the service.  Successful execution of the role will require strict attention to detail around environment configuration for the regression tests, involving multiple environments and teams.  Candidate must develop effective test plans through consultation with clients and development team members (without formal BRDs), maintain/upgrade the regression test cases, and document the process for production
support.  Support is required at off-hours sometimes for release validation and meeting deadlines, but remote connectivity is provided.
 
Requirements
·       Bachelor degree in computer science, math, finance, or a related discipline. 
·       Minimum five years experience in QA
·       Minimum 1 year experience with service-based architecture
·       Able to navigate in UNIX, reading and understanding the UNIX file system
·       Broad understanding of Software Configuration Management and code version control
·       Able to troubleshoot problems with environment setup and code issues
·       Ability to track and report defects, issues and overall results to peers and management
·       Very knowledgeable in the use SQL
·       Experience managing multiple test environments
·       Proficient in Microsoft Excel
·       Project management experience managing several applications and human resources working together simultaneously.
·       Strong technical and analytical skills
·       Excellent communication skills and judgment, ability to manage multiple tasks, and work towards a deadline. 
·       Able to handle a fast paced, aggressive development schedule

Sr. Compensation Analyst, Human Resources:

The Compensation Analyst is the key technical resource for base, bonus and
stock bonus programs and supports all areas of Compensation.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

- Works with Compensation Director/Manager on a variety of projects
including compensation program analysis, budgeting, and implementation plus
the annual performance evaluation and salary adjustment process. This also
includes the analysis of new compensation programs for potential
implementation.

- Administers base pay and stock bonus programs including the preparation
and documentation for the annual review and salary adjustment cycles.

staff to ensure that HRIS systems (Oracle/Ceridian) meet compensation needs and are updated to reflect changes to salary structures, bonus programs, etc.

- Assists recruiting team and hiring managers in generating offers for
employment candidates and other compensation related issues.

- Maintains accurate compensation and organization data in Oracle/Ceridian system and in compensation department records to document all changes related to base salary and/or stock bonus programs.

- Draft sample job descriptions and assists managers and staff members in
job description preparation.

Requirements

- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related area is
required.

- The successful candidate should have two to five years (2-5) of experience
with full cycle compensation activities.

- Previous compensation experience in pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology organization is required.
