Job Description & duties  
 
·         Following established standards and procedures, design and code ATM Terminal Driving Functionality within Terminal Device Handlers.
·         Testing of coding changes which were made to ensure, accuracy and completeness, in regard to Client requirements and proper operation of changes.
·         Requirements will be detailed in the Requirements document supplied by CR Projects or identified as part of the PTR resolution process.
·         Supports ATM Load developers in understanding the requirements of the Device Handlers, to support new functionality, as they create ATM Loads to support the new functionality.
·         Provides Production support for terminal configuration issues, as well as, assisting other members of the Terminal Driving Team, including new Terminal Applications and hardware.
·         Work with Load Developers, and Device handler Programmers within team, to develop project requirements and high-level effort hour estimates.
·         Design and document technical specifications as required.
·         Provide work breakdown structures and associated effort hour estimates.
·         Code and test Device handlers for the different ATM manufacturers Terminals we support.
·         Provide assistance & guidance to Quality Assurance team as necessary.
·         Conduct reviews of other team member's technical specifications.
·         Monitor production installs for desired impact or potential issues.
·         Provide second line production support. *Maintain work standards as outlined in our Metrics reporting.
·         Provide weekly status reports and time accounting.
Requirements
 
·         5 years experience with Tandem systems and Terminal Device handler knowledge.
·         Skill set would include an understanding of Extended services, Tandem Guardian experience is required.
·         Knowledge of API and coding, using TAL, C, C++ and some Java knowledge required.
·         Extensive knowledge in Configurations of ATM terminals.
·         Troubleshooting skills, including use of Traces and Utilities offered from tandem.
·         Paragon Configbuilder and ATMulator tools (used for load creation and testing) experience preferred.
·         Strong written and verbal communication skills.
·         Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize assignments; known tasks as well as unplanned issues, and meet deadlines.
·         Able to work independently with a strong sense of accountability, as well as with a team.
·         Highly motivated and self-assured; hands-on problem solver.
·         Experience interfacing with Operational, and Development teams.
·         Experience with Systems Life Cycle methodologies.
·         Financial industry experience a plus.

We are seeking a Vice President of Database Operations for our client, a major direct marketing firm, in the Armonk, New York area. This is a key position, responsible for providing strategic leadership and management oversight of all work processes for Systems, Production Services and Database & Application Development teams. Candidates should have the ability to develop strategic technology plans, define projects and manage needs requirements and solution delivery.

The ideal candidate will have:
* Senior management experience within a production database environment.
* Demonstrated aptitude for managing technology change.
* A proven ability to develop, test and deploy 'best of breed' IT software.
* A commitment to delivering internal and external clients with superior service.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
* Extensive technical experience in a direct marketing database environment.
* Experience with large-scale databases, PC software and database manipulation.
* A high energy level - with a flexible, adaptive and inquisitive mindset.
* Proven expertise in process improvement and data flow control.
* Successful experience managing a team of highly skilled programmers, operations and support staff.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to provide business development, sales and client services with client facing technical support.

Responsibilities Include:
* Strategic direction and oversight of technical solution delivery and QA.
* Strategic direction and oversight of database and application development, QA and implementation.
* Responsibility for full range of activity, including software and hardware evaluation and contract negotiation, in maintenance of data resources and related processes.
* Oversight and maintenance of Business Support Systems and Enterprise Production Platforms.
* Provide management oversight, thought leadership and implementation of best practices in data handling and legal compliance, data security and integrity, internal and external audits, and fulfilling consumer inquiries.
* Hiring, training and maintaining skills needed for successful execution and scaling of technology business functions.
* Development and management of capital expenditure plans and budgets.
* Management of outside technology vendors and contractors.
* Participation in management team activities and corporate strategic planning.

Required education and work experience:
* Graduate degree in Computer Science or related field.
* 10+ years management experience in database operations and project management.
* Experience in and knowledge of best practices for managing sensitive consumer data is a plus.
* Experience with and/or Certifications in postal software, Linux/windows and major database variants is a plus.
* Experience in defining/designing/building/managing a data warehouse is a plus.
* Direct Marketing or Credit Scoring experience is required.

Salary: $130-150K
