Job Title: 'C' Software Engineer, Real-Time Software Development(multiple
positions)
Location: Rockville, MD (preferred) or Philadelphia, PA
Salary: $80-125K, DOE
Summary:
Our client is acquiring a Real Time Point of Sale (POS) system written in
'C' and is seeking a team of software engineers who will be responsible for
doing a significant amount of customization. This includes reviewing
architecture and documentation, adding features and functions to drive the
system forward, and providing necessary support to make sure that it is
available 7x24x365. The team will be comprised of about 3 Senior Software
Engineers and about 7 Mid-Level resources who must have experience in
programming real-time POS systems.
Required Skills and Experience
. Undergraduate degree in Computer Science (CS), Applied Mathematics with a
CS minor, or other quantitative science-based degree (Physics, Statistics,
etc.).
. Hands-on experience in development and management of real time, response
critical, high transaction rate, and high availability systems (i.e., POS
with B2B interface)
. Strong experience in the full development lifecycle of large enterprise
scale systems
. 4-7+ years of strong hands-on experience in 'C' programming
. Solid understanding and extensive experience with multiple development
methodologies like Agile, RUP and Waterfall
. Solid experience utilizing Oracle DBMS
. Experience in the Health Care Industry, especially Pharmacy Benefit
Management (PBM) systems, is strongly preferred
. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Job Description:
The Client is looking for two Vantage Application Development Consultants. These positions provide analytical and programming support for the implementation of new life insurance products onto the Vantage 15 system. They will work in a fast-paced team environment to analyze specifications, determine changes needed for implementation, applying the changes, and support QA testing. They will be responsible for technical specifications, coding and related technical tasks. Other responsibilities include participation in product development workgroup sessions, fulfillment of SOX and SDLC requirements, insuring that unit/systems/parallel test results are presented to the business area of review and signoff.
As an Application Development Consultants they may also be asked to assist with more complex Business Work requests that maintain our highly available mainframe application.
Requirements of each position:
Must be a proven Vantage developer. Must have an excellent track record of developing and implementing new Life Products.
Expert in IBM MVS, TSO, JCL, COBOL, Expediter, Debug, Princeton SoftTech and FileAid. Working knowledge of DB2.
Demonstrated programming and design skills within both batch and on-line CICS environments. Project Life Cycle methodologies experience valued. A minimum of 10 years analysis, programming, design and implementation experience. Prior Vantage experience is a must (10 years required). Bachelors Degree within a technical discipline is preferred but not required.
The position requires strong analytical skills. Variable UL, SVUL, InReach, Group UL, and/or MoneyGuard UL product knowledge is desired. Must have the ability to work with Actuarial and QA to analyze specifications and determine modifications required for development, problem correction and implementation.
Very good teamwork, communication, writing, requirements gathering and problem solving skills. Team player a must. Must have the ability to juggle multiple projects, handle priority changes and meet deadlines.
