GENERAL:  COMBINED DINNER MTG - SELLING YOU, INC. - JOE HIMELFARB OC

SAVE THE DATE

COMBINED DINNER MTG – TUESDAY, October 25th

Selling You, Inc.

On Tuesday evening, October 25th, MIS Network Associates (MNA), IT-Networking, the ETP Network, TENG, The Breakfast Club of NJ (TBCNJ), Monmouth Networking, and Careers In Transition (CIT) will host a combined dinner meeting for members, alumni, friends, and guests at The Holiday Inn in Totowa, NJ.

This month's topic:   Selling You, Inc.

Aristotle believed an important skill any person could have was the ability to influence.  Have you ever had to convince your colleagues, a recruiter, department heads, or company executives to try a different tactic in acquiring new business? Ever tried to get a recruiter or hiring manager to buy your stuff, i.e., YOU in a job interview?  Ever tried to get your kids to behave a certain way?

Join us for a thought provoking and highly interactive program that will demystify your views of selling and help you to better sell yourself.  Learn how you can apply the theories and techniques of selling as you search for work (Hint: no rocket science involved, but Rocket Scientists can surely benefit).

Hear new ideas about old job search techniques that can help focus your attention on the job at hand no matter what it is.  Learn how to put a different spin on the activities you currently perform so you can distinguish yourself from the other applicants vying for the position you want.  Make the person interviewing you feel glad they met you.  And make your new employer wonder how they ever got along without you.

About the Speaker:  Joe Himelfarb has been selling for over 18 years. Whether it is multi-million dollar computing systems to companies around the world, or consumer products in a homeowner's backyard, Joe enjoys helping professional like you get from where they are to where they want to be.

Joe worked at AT&T Submarine Systems where he assisted with the manufacturing and installation of several trans-oceanic fiber optic telecommunications projects. He also was a member of the Sales Account Team at Hewlett Packard that was responsible for supporting AT&T.

Joe has sold and co-facilitated sales training seminars for large companies in the pharmaceutical, hospitality, and publishing industries.  He left corporate America for a few years to help homeowners in the Tri-State area envision and create vacation retreats in their backyards by selling swimming pools.  He also worked as an Inside Sales Rep as well as a Senior Account Executive for IT Consulting and Staffing Organizations.
Joe has a BS in Physics from Buffalo State College and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University at Buffalo.  He is a trained Integrity Systems Sales Instructor and has his PMP Certification from George Washington University.
.

The schedule for the dinner meeting on October 25th will be:

-         6:00 to 6:45 pm –  Registration, "speed dating", and cash bar
-         6:45 to 7:15 pm -- Introductions
-         7:15 pm             -- Dinner
-         8:00 pm             -- Selling You, Inc. presentation

The informal networking groups are so helpful in networking that we will do the "speed dating" again on the 25th before we sit down for dinner and the general introductions.  Briefly, these informal "dates" consist of up to 4 people and last for 5 to 10 minutes.  At the end of the 10 minutes, the groups break up and new ones are formed with different participants. Suggested dialogues for your "speed dating" encounters will be provided at the registration desk in case you are at a loss for what to say during these conversations.

There will be an opportunity to circulate up to 50 copies of your resume, personal bio, leads, or other appropriate material in a handout for each participant from the dinner.

The cost will be $30 for everyone if forwarded by mail or other to John Sampson by COB Thursday, October 20th at 2 Blackfoot Cir, Wayne NJ 07470.  Checks should be made out to John Sampson who can be reached by phone at 973-248-3251 or via email at jcsspike@yahoo.com.  Reservations can also be made by contacting Lizanne Fiorentino at adminedg@optonline.net but checks must be sent directly to John.

An initial list of attendees will be emailed to all the RSVPs, members of MNA, the ETP Network, TENG, TBCNJ, Monmouth Ntwkg, IT-Net, CIT and other interested parties the weekend of October 22nd/23rd for initial review and correction.  The RSVP list will facilitate networking at the October 25th meeting and can be used to communicate with attendees in advance or after the dinner meeting. For those attendees who are working, current work affiliation, email address, three previous companies you've worked for/consulted at, professional job interest or position availability must be included in your RSVP.

For those attendees who are in transition, three target companies should be included in your RSVP as well as the type of position you seek.

A "final" numbered RSVP list of attendees will be available along with the pre-published questions and an ID badge at the registration desk on the 25th.  Your number on the final RSVP list should be part of your introduction:  "I'm number x on the RSVP list …". All attendees should have their sharp, crisp, 30 second elevator speech at the ready.  Too many "ahs, dees and doeses" will be cut off unceremoniously. Remember, you and your introduction will be between the rest of the attendees and dinner!

A final RSVP list of the actual attendees will be emailed to everyone who participated by first week in November.

The cost of dinner will be $45 from Oct 21st to the COB on Oct 24th. We will accept a LIMITED number of walk-ins on the 25th.  Anyone who attends on the 25th and whose check has not been received by COB on the 24th will be charged $60 WITHOUT EXCEPTION. There will be NO refunds and no shows WILL be billed.

Again, bring 50 copies of your bio/resume, leads, or materials you wish to be included in the handout the evening of October 25th.
Directions to the Holiday Inn at One Rt 46 Westbound in Totowa can be found at www.holiday-inn.com/totowanj

Dues are due for MNA Members.

If you would like to help out at the meeting on the 25th, volunteer to be a "Meeting Marshall", call John Sampson at 973-248-3251 for details.  We can use your help!!!

Please join us for what always is a well-attended evening of lively discussion, great networking opportunities, some personal sales tips from Joe, and a chance to just catch up.

Career Fairs. Go to the Chat Sessions!!*
* *
The virtual career fair went great. I got one interview already and I am
expecting more. I think that this was a great idea and I hope that our
school does it again next year.
* *

I just want to say thank you for help putting on this event. I think this
event has been a success for me. The chat provided more of a one on one
environment for me to sell myself to the company over a normal job fair. I
personally would love to see more of these events for future students and
alumni!

This straightforward approach allows me to find out exactly what type of
talent these companies are looking for without having to fill out countless
online profiles.

How great of an idea this is for employers in addition to potential job
seekers. It provides one more point of contact for potential candidates with
the companies that they are interested in

I knew the time slot, I get on the computer, and make that connection right
away with the recruiter

This virtual career fair can be the thing that changed my life. I cant
even describe how excited I am, and how much I appreciate your efforts.
