Position Summary:
My client is looking for a Recognized Technical Expert in the persistent
surveillance marketplace - (EO/IR, & Sensors)
As a Market Segment Systems Engineer you will be part of the Technology
Office reporting to the CTO with a dotted line to the Product Management
group.
Must have experience in:
· Architecture and development of advanced airborne ISR systems including
the implementation of image processing algorithms
· Architecture design, modeling and detailed systems requirements flow down
for imaging applications, algorithms, and systems
· Specifying EO/IR system architectures
· Systems engineering activities from proposal, systems definition,
engineering prototypes through production delivery to customers
· Assist in the annual Technology Roadmap and R&D planning
Position Responsibilities:
My client is looking for a Systems Engineer / Systems Architect in
persistent ISR to:
(1) guide the development of technologies, products, and services for the
EO/IR marketplace
(2) communicate key market requirements to customers, internal
constituencies and facilitate feedback
(3) provide technical evaluations and analysis on how to most effectively
map target market applications to firm's current and future products
(4) build technical relationships with customers and industry insiders to
provide insight into improvement and unique value add
(5) serve as a technical expert to customers and firm's Applications
Engineers, providing in-depth specialized knowledge in applications and
techniques used in target markets
(6) promote firm's products and services in the context of solving
system-level problems
Required Skills and Competencies:
· BS/MS degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
· A minimum of 10 years system engineering experience - analyzing,
designing, and building end-to-end C4ISR Systems with a strong emphasis on
the target market segment. (EO/IR - Persistent Surveillance).
· Must have strong, recent subject matter knowledge in one or more of the
areas regarded as Persistent Surveillance EO/IR & Sensors or other related
technologies Need to be able to work directly with clients
gathering/determining requirements, doing technical design and architecture
and acting as a bridge to Product Engineering & Product Line Management.
· Recent experience designing and implementing image processing algorithms,
image exploitation; familiarity with tracking and change detection.
· Knowledge of National, Military, and other U.S. Government collection
platforms and programs.
2 Key Points:
1. We need people that have been recently involved in the development of
EO/IR sensor processing systems, so they understand the key technology
drivers associated with doing these kind of things.
2. Scope of technology understanding (embedded processor, switch fabric,
environmental specifications, software at multiple levels, OS, signal/image
processing libraries, middleware and overall application categories.
· Prior experience evaluating various hardware / software technology
tradeoffs in the development of a system-level C4ISR solutions.
· Prior experience planning technology insertions and evaluating technical
refresh levels.
· Prior experience providing direction and guidance to less experienced
engineers across a cross-functional engineering organization.
· Interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing, and interrelating
with technically and organizationally diverse personnel.
· Communication skills including written, verbal, visual, electronic, and
group facilitation. Ability to communicate complex technical subjects to
executive audiences, as well as acquisition and programmatic subjects to
technical audiences.
· Must be a US Citizen with an Active Secret or TS/SCI Clearance or
Attainable.

. Be able to lead more junior data modelers
. Can effectively document their design and the design of others
. Understand what the cost-based optimizer is, how Oracle uses
statistics to pick a plan, and the role of analyze and DBMS_STATS to affect
the plan chosen
. Read the results of Explain Plan and TKPROF to optimize SQL
. Understand PL/SQL including packages and procedures and be able to
write and test them
. Understand the role of partitioning including the different types
allowed, their purpose, and what it is appropriate and when it isn't
. Understand the different components in an Oracle installation
including RAC, Dataguard, Streams
. Understand Configuration Management, Different Types of Testing,
some conceptual knowledge of Data Architecture
. Expert with SQL and Oracle/DB2 databases.
. Can write complex SQL statements, do the performance tuning (7+
years)
. Designed and architected database models (5+ years)
. Experience working with source code repositories like CVS,
Clearcase
