Position Responsibilities - Summary
This position is responsible for all global network and voice engineering
and operations globally in a fast pace 24x7x365 environment. Candidates
will posses strong management skills, expertise in managing a Cisco Centric
environment.
Strong management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and
resources at the same time are critical. Strong accountability,
organization and communication skills are a must in this role.
Detailed Responsibilities:
· Oversee staff scheduling, projects, performance and training
· Establish and enforce best practices for network management,
configuration changes, monitoring, patch management and security
· Responsible for short term and long term capacity needs
· Experienced in establishing and managing a budget for support,
maintenance and hardware lifecycle refresh
· Provide Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 network support for a complex
enterprise WAN, LAN and Voice networks
· Responsible for all Voice and Data Network Providers for service
delivery, capacity planning and operations troubleshooting
· Monitor and resolve service requests in accordance with published
SLAs.
· Strong leadership, communications and presentation skills with the
ability to clearly communicate status to senior management team
· Review and assist in the creation of polices and procedures for
enterprise network deployments
· Oversee compliance and approve change controls in accordance with
change management processes
Required Skills and Competencies:
A candidate must possess the following qualifications:
· 10+ years managing a team that provided network services
preferably for a financial services firm.
· Advanced Working knowledge (from a management perspective) of
complex LAN and Wan environments, including VoIP and structured cabling
required.
· Cisco device programming and troubleshooting including routers
CatOS and IOS switches, ASA, ACE, VPN and wireless.
· Advanced working knowledge of routing protocols including OSPF
and BGP
· Emphasis on sharing of knowledge through good communications, peer
training and written documentation
· Strong inter-personal skills - Positive customer service and team
attitude (helping others when required)
· Focused on quality Organized - Committed to continual
improvement
· Willingness to travel as required to remote sites during large
deployments, as needed.
· Willingness to participate in on call rotation.
· A four-year undergraduate degree required
Preferred Skills:
· Cisco Routers and switches (CatOS and IOS), QoS, ASA, ACE, Nexus,
VPN
· Juniper firewalls and VPN
· Routing protocols OSPF, BGP, RIP
· Experience with Riverbed Steelhead, Aruba, Infoblox DNS, F5 DNS
and IPC turrets
· Experience with Avaya VoIP (9600 phones), 8300, 8500, 8700,
Alliance switches are a plus including Avaya Meeting Exchange
· Cisco certification is preferred (CCIE or CCNP)
Keys to this Position:
1. This is a Hands-on Manager that has previous managed a team of network
engineers. This individual will manage a staff of 10+ engineers and
analysts.
2. Strong Technical skills required include:
- 10 years of technical depth/expertise in Cisco routing & switching, WAN
optimization, QoS and geographical load balancing
- Expertise in managing a complex LAN, MAN and WAN environment
- Advanced working knowledge of routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
3. Preference will be given to a CCIE/CCNP or experience managing a network
team at a financial services firm.
