The IT Security Administrator performs two core functions for the company:

1. Overseeing the effective deployment and operations of the company's security solutions.

2. Establishing an enterprise security stance through policy and procedure, auditing (compliance measurement) and training processes.

Responsibilities:

60%

Evaluate, install and maintain infrastructure components such as server and computer anti-virus software, email filters, web content filters, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, patch management and other technologies used to protect business systems and information

15%

Audit systems and activity logs to measure compliance with security policies and procedures.

10%

Draft and disseminate policies, procedures, and guidelines to raise awareness of information protection and security best practices.

10%

Monitor websites, forums, and hacker "chat rooms" to maintain awareness to of trends and activities that could pose a threat to company systems and/or information.

5%

Review request for network access and evaluate risks. Where practical, recommend ways to mitigate risk.

Required Qualifications:

Job Experience:

1. 10+ years of PC, Server, and Network Engineering / Administration.

2. 5+ years hands on work with security technologies

3. 4+ years in a technical lead role.

Job Skills:

1. Able to effectively manage and work on several complex tasks/projects concurrently.

2. Able to work well with personnel at all levels.

3. Well versed and functional in a variety of relevant technologies.

4. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

5. Able to prioritize tasks to meet the business requirements and objectives.

6. Able to develop, implement and follow processes.

7. Able to deal with frequent change, delays, and unexpected events without exhibiting frustration.

8. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.

9. Exhibits sound and accurate judgment and logical reasoning.

Formal Education/Degree:

1. BS / BA in Computer Science (or equivalent)
2. Security certifications a plus (CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, CCSP)

Technologies:

1. OS: MS/Windows (including Active Directory), Linux
2. Security Platforms: CiscoFirewalls, Websense WebFilter, Forescout IPS/IDS
3. Security Software: McAfee, Symantec, Liebersoft ERPM
4. Networking: TCP/UDP/IP, SNMP, SMTP, FTP, HTTP[S]

This position is typically a contributor and advisor in the decision making process. This person gathers information from individuals and teams to provide information and propose options to decision makers. Examples include:

1. Recommend solutions to protect business systems and/or address specific security concerns as they arise.

2. Participate in establishing and communicating procedures for efficient IT governance and compliance.

3. Participate in the development and communication of problem and change management procedures.

This position has no direct staff responsibility, however, as a subject matter expert in security it is required to lead/guide others in the execution of security activities. Examples include:

1. Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer (in area of expertise) to other technical personnel in support of project goals.

2. Project manages security initiatives. Lead peer engineers to complete assigned tasks.

3. Enforce compliance with security practices.

This position manages day-to-day support relationship with outside organizations including vendors, but does not approve the terms and conditions of contracts or PO's. Examples include:

1. Work with suppliers to develop proposals (functionality, compatibility, preliminary pricing) for products and/or services that address security requirements.

2. Participate in professional organizations to expand awareness of issues and solutions impacting security.

3. Work with technical partners to understand technology capabilities and constraints.

Other:

1. Meet with other members of technology team (IT and Engineering) to review technical and support requirements. Lead Security focus group.

2. Work with IT Managers and Data Center personnel to facilitate problem resolution.

3. Work with management team to establish goals and objectives that are consistent with those of the business.

4. Meet with representatives from other departments within client to define requirements and propose solutions.

5. Work with IT and Audit staff on SOX and other governance activities.

This position provides tactical/operational planning support. This person typically will plan and/or investigate several tasks or activities that make up a larger project. Examples include:

1. Assists in defining resource requirements necessary for accomplishing departmental goals and objectives.

2. Gather information to assist in the cultivating of support agreements with vendors.

3. Plan testing activities that validate successful completion of tasks and activities.

4. Assist in the development of an annual budget.

5. Development plans for educating coworkers on security technologies and their use.
