Beloved Friends;

My next FREE webinar will discuss the counter-intuitive business principle: "Not Everything That Counts Can Be Counted."  Click on link below.

Contrary to what the Engineers and Accountants keep telling us, not everything can be measured and quantified.

Much of what takes place in business doesn't lend itself to a measurable computation.  A profitable bottom-line is often more closely aligned with inspiration and passion ... than being able to calculate discounted cash flow.

The Monks used to say: "One person with Passion is worth more than 99 with good ideas."  Sign up for this next webinar where we'll discuss personal passion, intrinsic motivation, the dilemma of trying to "quantify" our personal business contributions ... while living in a world of metrics and measurements.

Come join Kenny Moore, best-selling author, business leader and former Catholic monk, for a "business conversation" focused on keeping your sanity, sense of humor and soul in the workplace.
This informal, interactive and irreverent webinar will be opportunities to explore the challenges of living and working in the 21st century.

Who Should Attend?

If you're hoping to hear a concise PowerPoint presentation on practices, principles and secret tips for getting ahead, earning more money, finding a better job or ingratiating yourself even further with senior management, THIS WEBINAR IS NOT FOR YOU.  You'd be better off watching Oprah, reading Jack Welch or hiring yourself a high-priced corporate coach.

However,

If you're perplexed by what you see happening in the workplace, confounded by the escalating stress in your professional and personal life, disillusioned by what gets sold as "Enlightened Business Practices," frustrated by the false promise of attaining work-life balance and (most importantly), resentful that you're coming in earlier/staying later yet still remain a dismal disappointment to your high-potential boss - this Webinar may be just what you're looking for.

What to Expect?

What you'll experience in these 60 minute webinars is the raucous ramblings of a seasoned veteran of both corporate and monastic life ... acknowledging that we're really not in charge of much, there's no pre-packaged plan for responding to what shows up on our desk each morning and certainly no simple formula for managing the chaos of today's marketplace - but there does remain some wisdom, advice and counsel on how this whole beautiful mess comes together to make life bearable, manageable and perhaps even enjoyable.

Program WILL OFFER practical advice for:

RESPONDING ... to an increasingly dysfunctional and chaotic world of work;

RELATING ... to distracted bosses, overworked peers, indifferent subordinates and unruly staffs;

and, most intriguing...

RELISHING  ...  the mystery of "The Human Condition"*

(* that most perplexing of realities in peoples' lives, which for some odd reason, remains indifferent to the efficiency of Business Best Practices, the effectiveness of high-priced Management Consultants, the enthusiasm of well-intentioned Motivational Speakers and, most disturbingly, the entreaties  of wealthy Executives.)

Think of this program as National Public Radio's "Car Talk" - but geared to the world of work.

No PowerPoint presentations will be given.  No Business Best Practices will be sited.  No Big Name Business Authors will be quoted.  There's even NO advertising!

This entertaining webinar will be conversational in tone and largely driven by the questions that you as a participant have to ask.

CAUTION:

Any advice offered during this Webinar is not intended to be taken seriously and may be injurious to your health, both personal and financial.  Neither Stephen Covey nor Tom Peters would find comfort in much of what gets encouraged.

Common side effects of participating in this program may include nausea when reviewing your company's Executive Compensation Plan, mild depression in implementing "Best Practice" business solutions and acute drowsiness when attending programs sponsored by your Human Resources department.  A healthy disrespect for authority and the propensity to trust your innate common sense may be dangerously elevated. On rare occasion, attendees have been known to cancel their subscriptions to the "Harvard Business Review."

The "NEON" approach to networking

Posted by: "Terrence Seamon" thseamon@yahoo.com   thseamon

Mon Aug 17, 2009 10:10 am (PDT)

Here is a short video on youtube from careers expert (and my friend) Gerry Crispin where he lays out a four step approach called NEON for introducing yourself.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeUJE62vROk

NEON breaks down to:

Now - Who are you now?

Energy - What is your passion?

Objective - What are you looking to do?

Need - What step do you need to take next to advance your career?

Very useful take on the old "elevator speech."  Great for networking.  Try it!
