Location: Washington, DC.
Duration: 6+ Months

Provide systems administration, operational support and problem resolution for the client server systems including Solaris, AIX . Shift work required.
The support team will provide 6am til midnight on site coverage as well as on call support afterwards.

skill: Senior (7+ yrs)
skills:

•Coordinate the installation and upgrades of hardware and software.
•Interact with IT staff and vendors regarding complex testing or troubleshooting issues.
•Provide user training and documents standards and operating procedures.
•Provide input on budget, strategic & tactical planning, process improvements, and engineering design.
•Present project status, issues and other key information to management, peers and stakeholders. Provide effective communication at all levels of management, peers and customers through clarity of expression and the ability to organize thoughts both
written and oral.
•Job requires a Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired; and five years of work experience in UNIX systems
operations and administration or telecommunications network operations.

AIX Specific
Extensive knowledge of IBM p5/p6 server architecture and AIX 6.1 operating system
Can work independently to
•install/configure/performance tune/support AIX Version 6 or above on Power6 platforms
•install/configure/monitor HMC (Hardware Maintenance Console)
•create LPARs.
•support, performance tune enterprise databases (UDB and Oracle)
•Experience installing database software, preferably DB2 and/or Oracle
•Experience with trouble-tracking software such as REMEDY
•Experience with backup/restore software such as TSM
•Experience with NIM
•Experience with GPFS
•Experience with EMC Power Path
•Installed and configured Cluster Systems Management (CSM)

Sun Specific
Extensive knowledge of Sun sparc server architecture and Solaris 10 operating system
Can work independently to
•install/configure/performance tune/support Solaris 10 operating system
•create LDOMS/Zones
•support, performance tune enterprise databases (Sybase,UDB and Oracle)
•Experience with trouble-tracking software such as REMEDY
•Experience with backup/restore software such as TSM

Duties:
•Install software, apply patches, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools.
•System failure analysis and recovery; insuring the consistency and integrity of file systems.
•Hardware/software configuration; and management
•Liaison with client offices, operations personnel, and field service personnel; interact directly with customers to negotiate solutions and implementation specifics.
•Technical support and general troubleshooting
•Support 1100+ servers in a 24x7 data center.
•Manage and lead hardware and software migration and upgrade efforts of varying size and complexity.

Required Technical Skills:
•In-depth knowledge of Solaris, , AIX, web platforms and SAN
•Strong experience with system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments.
•In-depth hardware configuration knowledge
•Shell programming expertise helpful
•Network experience
•Strong troubleshooting skills
•Demonstrated initiative, customer orientation and team work competencies
•Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people
