Quality Assurance Analyst – Intermediate

Number of Opening -3

Description:

Responsible for developing and executing formal test plans to ensure the delivery of quality software applications. Involved in test planning, writing test cases/scripts, test case automation and test execution. Defines and tracks quality assurance metrics such as defects, defect counts, test results and test status. Collects and analyzes data for software process evaluation and improvements, and integrates them into business processes to address the needs of the business. Documents all problems and assists in their resolution. Delivers quality process training to technical staff and acts as an internal quality consultant to advise or influence business or technical partners. Performs quality audits across the various IT functions to ensure quality standards, procedures and methodologies are being followed.

Requires technical knowledge, training and understanding of a job's requirements. Typically possesses 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience.

Critical Skills:

Responsibilities
? Gain a good working knowledge of business requirements;
? Translate software specifications and business requirements into test cases;
? Participate in design walk-through;
? Conduct all phases of testing (Functional, Regression, Access controls, Performance) using both manual and automated techniques;
? Manage the lifecycle of a defect from discovery through resolution using defect tracking software;
? Manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing priorities;
? Develop and maintain various test artifacts including test matrices;
? Interface with developers and project managers regarding software quality on a regular basis;
? Communicate project status to varying levels of management.

Technical Skills Required
? Knowledge of web and non web application architecture;
? Working knowledge of Unix;
? Experience with Oracle 10 G or higher;
? Working knowledge of Automated Test tools (Compuware preferred);
? Grey box testing experience;
? Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word.

Other Requirements
? Computer Science Degree or equivalent work experience;
? Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously and produce high quality products;
? Strong problem solving and analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to assimilate new information, understand complex topics and arrive at sound analysis and judgment;
? Test Management Capabilities a plus;
? Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills;
? Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
? Ability to collaborate with business clients;
? Self-Motivated;
? Keeps abreast of current technology trends;
? Familiar with application development best practices;
? Well-versed in the use of Microsoft Office Tools.

Desirable
? Knowledge of MQ
? Knowledge of Websphere

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of work or equivalent work experience.

NOTES: Has recent experience in latest technologies, for exapmple: web applications, web 2.0 applications, and/or desktop applications
