If you have any questions do not hesitate t contact me This is for a consulting position in NYC - Union Square - East side location. Pay rate $55/hr. 6 months and possibility of 3-6 extensions | . A DB2/IMS systems programmer with minimum of 8 years experience.
. To be considered, candidates must at a minimum have an Associate's degree, a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
. Extensive experience with IBM DB2 systems management on an IBM mainframe z/OS platform and IBM DB2 Connect on a distributed Windows platform is required.
. Experience with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting two or more of the following software products in an IBM z/OS environment: DB2, IMS, CICS and MQSeries.
. The candidate must possess a strong knowledge of mainframe system software installation procedures, diagnostic techniques, and systems performance analysis.
. Experience with one or more of the following software is preferred: SMP/E, JCL, QMF, CA Insight for DB2, BMC LoadPlus, BMC Recovery Manager, BMC Alter, IBM Log Analyzer, IBM File Manager, IBM Fault Analyzer, and Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
. The candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills. | | | | Additional Skills (Skills that are a plus, but not required) | | | . A working knowledge of Assembler Language is a plus. | | | | Assignment | | The duties and responsibilities of this job position include:
. Install using SMP/E, customize and maintain the DB2 environment and associated support products (BMC, IBM QMF and File Manager, and CA tools and utilities).
. Provide problem diagnosis and resolution for system software problems.
. Monitor performance, and tune the DB2 environment to maximize system resource utilization.
. Working knowledge with DB2 distributed and the IBM DB2 Connect gateway on a Windows platform.
. Working knowledge with DB2 disaster recovery planning.
. Working knowledge in installing IMS, customize and maintain the IMS environment. Provide backup coverage for IMS senior technical specialist.
. Provide technical support, advice and counsel to Data Center operations, Database Administration and application programmers.
. On-call availability 24x7 to support system emergencies.
