Basic Function
IT Business Partner is responsible for the overall relationship between the business unit and the IT organization. They play a critical role in planning and coordinating the delivery of IT services to the business units and the program management of the project portfolio.
Accountabilities
Business Relationship 25%
Build and maintain consultative relationships with business unit executives and management.
Represent the voice of the business unit within Client IT and support the business unit in defining and quantifying the value that IT brings to its business.
Insure alignment of IT services with business unit needs and priorities.
Represent and communicate the Client IT strategy to the business unit.
Act as the primary interface and escalation point with Client IT/IBM for business unit projects.
Coordinate and facilitate communications and information sharing with the appropriate Client and domain IT organizations.
Develop the annual business unit service plan
Business Management 20%
Ability to multitask and manage multiple service requests
Manage business support issues and risks, develop detailed risk mitigation plans
Manage all aspects of change management including the release of projects and other changes into production, the execution of communication plans and the coordination with various IS groups and business teams
Play a key role in defining and improving project Life Cycle Methodology processes and procedures
Responsible for the development and adherence of project budgets and schedules
Business Process Re-Engineering 10%
Develops a working knowledge of current enterprise-wide business processes.
Work closely with the business process analysts in documenting and analyzing work processes and the IT systems that support them
Identifies strengths, weaknesses and areas where modifications would improve efficiency, reduce costs, increase effectiveness or better support business goals and objectives.
Assists in identifying business processes that are targets for immediate & long-term development.
Assesses specific work processes in collaboration with process owners
Incorporates knowledge of end user and customer priorities and considerations into proposed solutions
Performs gap analysis to identify missing or weak elements in work processes and the IT strategies that would improve them
New Business Development 20%
Develop IT new business opportunity strategy and tactical plans
Play key role in promoting new business opportunities with BU management, leveraging common solutions across multiple BUs to gain efficiencies and achieve CISC and Client strategies.
Develop financial impact analysis for new opportunities
Request for Services 10%
Plan, initiate and coordinate business unit requests for IT services
Develop business requirements definition, business case development and request prioritization
Secure management and financial approvals
Provide project oversight, status reporting and problem escalation
Business Transformation 10%
Develop and strongly influence the overall business transformation activities business units.
Manage the transformation initiatives insuring compliance with the BPMC process.
In conjunction with the business unit, develop business transformation and adoption metrics. Track and measure business results.
Report on business unit project status, issues, and results.
Business Planning 5%
Participate in the yearly Business Planning Process to insure the proper level of IT support is enabled to meet the desired business needs.
Participate in monthly business achievement meetings. Insure that any IT deficiency is identified and corrected.
Manage business unit relationships and projects.
Interface with all levels of the Client, Client IT and vendor organizations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Comply with Client policies and procedures, including but not limited to SOX, PC & Client
Ensure compliance with all IT policies and procedures
Identify and research problems and root cause analysis
Determine logical solutions
Use broad systems thinking and be creative/innovative
Undergraduate degree required
Minimum of 5 years of IT experience in functional areas
Business experience preferred
Excellent presentation skills in developing and delivering customer/management presentations
Intermediate to advanced skill level of MS PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Word
Minimum of 3 years project management experience
Program Management Professional (PgMP) Certification desired
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desired
Six Sigma and Lean concepts knowledge desired
Broad experience in a wide variety of technological solutions
Detail oriented
COMMUNICATIONS: (key communications contacts and level of persuasion required)
Regular communications with all levels of business unit and Client IT management
The ability to influence and persuade management on areas of business improvement is a significant competency.
****This is a potential temp to perm position. Contractors pay rate should not exceed 50/hour.
