This Month's Topic: a Play - Eating the Bear: Snapshots of the New Normal" by
Karen Carson
Description of Play:

"Eating the Bear: Snapshots of the New Normal" is an evolving collection of
monologues of several characters from different backgrounds who have been laid
off or downsized from their jobs. The idea for the piece, currently presented as
a reading, grew out of the playwright's daily real-life observations.

In the play, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist interviews a former Human
Resources manager, Research & Development director, hotel supervisor,
bartender/college student, and supermarket clerk on how they cope with the
uncertainties and challenges of being unemployed.
