Position Responsibilities – Summary

The Equity Portfolio Construction Applications team engages thought leaders
in the Equity, Asset Allocation and Commodities portfolio management areas
to provide solutions that enable advanced portfolio analysis and risk
management, aid idea generation, and facilitate portfolio construction.

Advanced portfolio construction solutions target sophisticated investment
products with active long and short exposures to all asset classes i.e.
equities, fixed income, currency, and commodities. Investment
implementation is via both cash instruments and a wide range of derivatives.

The successful candidate will contribute technical leadership to core
architecture and engineering efforts, setting strategic technical direction,
and delivering advanced capabilities for global, low-latency, highly
available portfolio management platform.

In addition to working in a dynamic team that is well known for it attention
to detail and excellent delivery record, this role interacts closely with
peer engineering teams, business analysts, enterprise architects and
infrastructure teams across IS department.

Keys to this Position:

1) Technology: We are seeking solid in depth Java experience with
strengths in middle tier Java based programming and multi threading.
In-depth knowledge and experience of the Spring Framework. Strong
understanding and proven experience with technologies such as Web-Services,
XML/XSLT, JSON is required.
2) Strong understanding and experience of Messaging Frameworks.
3) Very strong communication skills are required as this individual
will partner with an Analyst and work together interfacing with the business
(Investors).
4) Strong leadership skills are required. This individual will work as
an individual contributor but will lead teams of up to 6 resources.
5) Financial Services experience is a big plus.

Required Skills and Competencies:

This position requires proficiency and experience in Software development
using Java based technologies. While prior business knowledge is not
mandatory any experience in the Financial industry will be a plus.

· Minimum 6 years experience as a Software Developer supporting
large, business-critical application development life cycles
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
(Master's Degree is Preferred)
· Strong understanding of Object Oriented concepts
· Demonstrated experience of Design and Development using Java based
technologies.
· In-depth knowledge and experience of the Spring Framework.
· Strong understanding and proven experience with technologies such
as Web-Services, XML/XSLT, JSON is required.
· Strong understanding and experience of Messaging Framework esp.
using JMS (experience with Active MQ will be a plus)
· Understanding and Experience with building performance (Speed and
Accuracy) critical applications is required.
· Experience in using scripting tools such as Perl, Shell Scripts is
required.
· Understanding of applications that use Rich Desktop clients is
required.
· Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and
verbal are required.
· Must possess PL/SQL programming and SQL tuning skills
· Experience with building Rich Client Applications User Interfaces
either using Eclipse RCP or Java Swing is preferred.
· Experience with various software development methodologies, such
as Agile or RUP. Must be comfortable with test driven development and
Continuous Integration (JUnit, Hudson, Code Coverage)
· Proven ability to support multiple applications simultaneously
· Ability to be self-motivated and work independently with one or
more business analysts and team of consultants to deliver Business solutions
· Work closely with IS developers located globally at all levels of
the organization to provide support for existing applications and
proactively identify opportunities for new/improved systems.
· Partner with in-house application and data architects while
implementing systems requirements.
· Experience in Financial Industry and esp. with Portfolio
Construction or Trading Tools is preferred
· Any work towards achieving the CFA (or related) charter will be a
plus.

Directs the design, testing, implementation, control and maintenance of the
organization's logical and relational databases across multiple platforms
and computing environments (e.g., host based, distributed systems, client
server). Ensures economic and efficient availability of data within adequate
safeguards for both security and integrity.

Responsible for development and maintenance of database support tools,
(e.g., software front ends to facilitate client area application
development), database tables and dictionaries, recovery and back-up
procedures.

Responsible for the development and enforcement of standards for design and
use of databases. Interfaces with and directs training of other data
processing sections and users.

Assigns personnel to the various projects and directs activities. Reviews,
evaluates and prepares periodic performance reports of own staff. Prepares
activity and progress reports on activities of section. Performs related
duties as assigned or requested.

This role requires a strong background in Progress/OpenEdge
Database/Application architecture and design, data modeling, & Business
Intelligence architecture with a decent knowledge of Java.

Detailed Responsibilities:

· Provides comprehensive consultation to business unit and data
processing management and staffs at the highest technical level in the
design, testing, implementation and maintenance of efficient and secure
databases.

· Works closely with developers to produce high performing SQL,
efficient and effective table and index designs and participates in code
reviews.

· Design and implement the tooling necessary to monitor key
performance indicators based on customer and business requirements.

· Proactively monitors and analyzes various performance indicators
resulting in recommendations and guidance that improves overall database
availability, scalability and performance.

· Works closely with technical and client management to design and
implement databases and database support tools in support of complex
business application development requirements and processes (e.g., diverse
development platforms, technological environments, software, hardware,
tools, etc.).

· Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the
most efficient and cost effective database solution for the systems design.

· Develops standards and procedures affecting database management,
design and maintenance. Establishes and maintains databases for user tests
and production purposes.

· Trains user groups on procedures and standards.

· Provides highly technical consulting and leadership in identifying
and implementing new data base alternatives that assist the functional
business units in meeting their strategic objectives.

· Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Skills and Competencies:

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar
field, or comparative experience.

· 4+ years of Progress OpenEdge database experience specifically
with Progress 10.2a or 10.2b

· 4+ years of database physical design and tuning

· 2+ years experience with OpenEdge Management

· 2+ years of database performance engineering and design

· Experience with, and a deep understanding of, Progress OpenEdge
database internals, configurations and storage solutions

· Strong SQL skills including performance tuning & optimization

The Equity Trading team is seeking a Senior or Core QA engineer (position
dependent on the experience) to be an integral member of the QA team
responsible for the testing efforts for the new Equity Trading platform that
is currently being developed.

Key Responsibilities;

· Participate in the development of the testing strategy based on
the application requirements for the new Equity Trading platform
· Develop and execute test cases for the new system
· Develop automation and performance scripts
· Work with the Project Managers and the Technical Leads to provide
them estimates, statuses, identify issues and risks.
· Stay current with the QA best practices, methodologies and
technologies.

Key to this Position:

1. 5 plus years of QA experience with strengths that include performance
and functional testing. The candidate should have automated experience with
QTP.
2. Financial services is required. Experience with Trading Systems is a
strong plus.
3. We are looking for a candidate that has leadership potential that can
grow into a lead role over time.
4. The individual will work on a team of 5 to 7 QA Engineers that will grow
to 10 plus next year.

Required Skills and Competencies:

· Five plus years experience in development, analysis or QA
· Knowledge with all aspects of testing, including functional,
structural, regression, load and performance testing
· Knowledge of the QA tools such as QC, QTP and Load runner
· Interest in pursuing a career in the QA engineering practice
· Ability to work with a team of offshore and onshore-based vendor
QA resources
· Knowledge of the Agile development and project management
processes
· Ability to diagnose and identify performance and stability issues
in large, complex applications
· Knowledge of Linux, Oracle database and SQL
