VP of Risk Technology

Base: up to $150K depending

Description and Duties:

The candidate must possess a strong background in credit risk management systems and risk management concepts. Experience building, integrating and deploying a firm-wide system is an absolute requirement.

This is a high profile role, with frequent intra-day contact with senior risk managers including the chief risk officer and senior technology managers. The candidate will be fluent in the business of risk management and technology management.

As the firm is embarking on a complete overhaul of the enterprise risk management system, this is the perfect opportunity at the ground level to bring in best in class practices and ideas, from customer master, trade master all the way to firm-wide risk management and reporting.

Responsibilities:

Ø Implement and deploy the firm's new enterprise-wide risk management system.

Ø Lead a small group of dedicated risk technologists in New York and London.

Ø Bridge the technology/business gap between risk and technology management.

Ø Lead, mentor, develop a small group of dedicated risk technologists in New York and London while fostering a team environment

Ø Ensure collaboration efforts with remote IT teams are successful

Ø Participate in staff hiring, development, and management.

Ø Focus on continuous process and quality improvement, along with supporting high levels of customer satisfaction

Ø Maintenance and monitoring of established measurement metrics

Ø Manage team of 5 – 8 developers in different regions in a 24x5 onsite coverage, 24x7 on call coverage

Ø Hands on support role as 24x7 coverage demands that all team members have support/development knowledge

Ø Work with Business and IT teams to identify functional and technical solutions to meet business process requirements, this includes documenting technical requirements, as well as designing solutions.

Non-Technical requirements/skill sets:

Ø General product knowledge, e.g. bonds, equities, futures, fx, swaps, etc.

Ø Specific knowledge of bonds and futures

Ø Full understanding the following concepts: VaR, CVaR, exposure, PFE, Monte Carlo

Ø Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose/resolve complex issues

Ø Ability to multi-task and switch gears to meet changing priorities and tasks to accomplish goals/objectives of the firm, not just individual tasks

Ø Able to proactively identify potential issues and propose resolutions

Ø Experience with managing development resources located in a different region of the world.

Ø Experience, commensurate with team requirements to support applications including issues, tools upgrade, version upgrades, etc.

Ø Must be independent and creative in approach to problems and issues.

Ø Ability to work independently.

Ø Excellent oral and written communications skills, particularly in documenting requirements and specifications, and communicating to end users.

Ø Ability to build, maintain, and follow project plans

Ø Ability to proactively manage up well, including owning issues/support, and escalating appropriately to mgmt

Ø Must have the ability to appropriately set priorities for self and team when necessary

Ø Ability to own communication stream to users, infrastructure groups, and follow up/through

Ø "Can do attitude" relating to accomplishing projects/tasks/workload for team

Ø Ability to work directly with users in the business to understand issues, drive solutions, and prioritize requests

Ø Technical requirements/skill sets:

Ø 5+ years working experience with j2ee

Ø 5+ years working experience with Sybase

Ø 3+ years working experience with Microsoft C#

Ø 3+ years working experience with IBM MQ and JMS Technologies

Ø 3+ years experience in the development of relational data models.

Ø Working experience with Solaris Unix and Windows Platforms

Ø Experience or working knowledge in the development tool platforms: HTML, XML, Perl.

GUI - Senior Developer - Must have strong business knowledge

Successful candidate will join a small team developing and extending existing front-end trading software which has algorithmic and spreading functionality. Various markets are supported, including Fixed Income, Indices, STIRs, for cash, futures and options. The position requires working closely and in parallel with developers in London. Occasional travel to Chicago, and elsewhere, may be required.

Responsibilities of the role include:

Ø Full product life-cycle - Analysis, Design, Code, Testing.

Ø Working closely with customers, business analysts, and account managers.

Skill Set (Mandatory)

Ø 7+ years in-depth experience with VC++.

Ø 2+ years working with MFC

Ø Must have hands-on working experience with:

· Multi-threaded development

· Developing with STL

· Object Oriented Programming and Design.

Senior Network Engineer / Network Architect Role

This Engineer will be primarily responsible for the Design and Implementation of IP data networks (LAN and WAN), Internet, VPNs, and advanced Network Services such as Server Load Balancing, Dynamic Site Selection, and Firewalls - at an Enterprise level. This includes infrastructure Planning, Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, Technical documentation, Reporting and 3rd Level Escalated Support.

Requirements:

Ø Advanced knowledge of Juniper JUNOS (Candidate should at least have JNCIS certification.

Ø 6+ years of Network engineering experience

Ø Ability to meet with client business units (preferably in a Finance environment), obtain requirements, analyze options, and provide solutions for multiple concurrent projects.

Ø Must have proven knowledge of and experience with Data Center design methodologies, 'modular' network design, and be prepared to discuss these in great detail.

Ø Enthusiastic about expanding knowledge with new technologies and design concepts.

Ø Advanced knowledge of Multicast and Routing/Switching protocols ( Required OSPF/BGP)

Ø Advanced knowledge of MPLS based Layer 3 VPNs (Knowledge of NextGen MVPNs and VPLS is a plus)

Ø In-depth knowledge of firewall/DMZ architecture and perimeter network security.

Ø Working knowledge of Quality of Service, Policy Routing, NAT, IPSec, VLANs, and load balancing techniques.

Ø Advanced knowledge of Juniper JUNOS (Candidate should at least have JNCIS certification. Hands-on experience with Juniper M-Series, MX-Series, EX-Series and J-Series is a must. Any knowledge of WX-series and CTP products is a plus)

Ø Knowledge and experience with Cisco IOS is a plus.
