Position Responsibilities - Summary
The ETS Communication's team seeks a Systems Engineer who will be
responsible for the engineering, roll out, and operational support of
messaging and communications products.
This individual will be primarily responsible for planning, architecture,
implementation and support of our messaging and communications
infrastructure for high availability, recoverability and reliability.
Key Responsibilities;
· Work on the architecture, design, implementation, deployment, and
support of the messaging and communications infrastructure
· Support the messaging and communications infrastructure as part of
an on call rotation
· Develop infrastructure standards, best practices and guidelines
Keys to This Position:
1. Strong analytical skills - ability to diagnose the interoperability
of a diverse set of technologies such as Exchange, Active Directory, VOIP,
SQL and A/V (The candidate should have 80% of these 5). Other key
technologies include OCS, Oracle, MOSS, SAN, TCIP, SIP, Avaya.
2. Strong system analysis, architecture, design and administration
skills. The position breaks down as follows: 50% system engineering &
administration, 35% infrastructure design and architecture practices, 15%
Project related tasks: working with support engineers, vendors and
developers across teams
3. Very close to the technology - design, configure and support
messaging and communications products
4. Strong knowledge of ITIL practices - Configuration, Change and
Release Management
5. The candidate should come from a large production environment -
(700+ Windows Servers globally)
6. Strong Infrastructure Management background - capacity planning,
performance management and security
Required Skills and Competencies:
· 7+ years experience supporting Microsoft Exchange
· Extensive experience in design, maintenance and support of an
Exchange infrastructure including performance, capacity, recovery
technologies for DR and HA, and journaling for compliance
· Knowledge of industry best practices related to email routing,
filtering, monitoring, storage, backup and disaster recovery is required
· Strong interpersonal skills and a proven record for attention to
detail
· A proven ability to interact successfully with clients, and
maintain open communications at all times
· Application Experience in Windows Server 2003, Exchange 2003,
Active Directory, Iron Mail, Blackberry Enterprise Server, OCS 2007,

Position Responsibilities - Summary
This individual, as part of the Production Support team within Enterprise
Technology Services will manage a team that provides 24X7 production support
services for our Unix and storage infrastructure. The right candidate
should have extensive management and technical experience with the ability
to support a global multi-vendor and cross-technology production environment
with strong leadership, crisis resolution, team management, communications,
analytical and decision-making skills. This role will report to the manager
of the production support team.
Managing full-time and consultant staff (professional development,
establishing goals, managing workload, defining and clarifying priorities,
and providing technical direction), budgets, technology vendor relationships
and projects/programs (series of projects).
Key Responsibilities;
· Continuous availability and operational resiliency of Unix/Storage
infrastructure components
· Minimize production risk(s)/issue(s) through oversight and delivery of
people, process and technology services
· Taking ownership of issues in a 24x7 production environment, collaborate
with other teams on remediation and manage them through completion
· Understand business priorities/needs, the IT organization's goals and
enable alignment of the team's operating model, processes and systems to
meet stated objectives and outcomes.
· Providing vision, direction, definition of team activities/priorities and
impact on technology and thought leadership/expertise for the Unix/Storage
team initiatives
· Apply Unix/Storage technology and application domain understanding and
collaborate with teams/peers to implement solutions, systems and processes
to improve our operations and support capabilities.
· Interacting with planning, engineering, delivery and operations teams to
coordinate project activities and support issues. Communicating issues and
status to senior management in the form of status reports, briefings, and
presentations.
· Development of strategy and plans for systems production readiness,
security/audit, monitoring for continued operability in a 24x7 environment,
infrastructure high availability, participation in disaster recovery
planning and testing, adherence to system standards and oversee the
development of automated Unix/storage system provisioning and operational
tools/capabilities.
· Function as a "mentor" for the team and empower employees by dissemination
of personal knowledge, perspective(s) and experience(s)
· Foster a positive culture of creativity, innovation and continuous
improvements of our services and operational capabilities
· Focus on enabling efficiency and productivity enhancements within our
global support staff, processes and our technology/tool(s) portfolio.
Keys to This Position:
1. This is a Senior person that is a Strong Hands on Manager. This
individual will manage 16 resources in the Unix and Storage space. The
candidate should have Strong Leadership skills along with experience in
Budgeting, Project Management and Staff Development. 60% Management/40%
Technical blend. We need a strong Leader with excellent Communication
skills that is Collaborative. The approach and management style are key.
2. This individual will have a strong Operations background that can manage
Production Infrastructure for Unix and Storage. Must have a background
managing a production environment for either Unix or Storage. Unix is more
important of the two. Must have strong Operational Process Knowledge (ITIL,
Change Management, etc.)
3. Technical Requirements: This candidate needs to be close to the
following technologies as a Tech Lead: Solaris, Linux, Veritas, VMware and
EMC with an understanding of Oracle databases.

5. The candidate should come from a large, mission critical, 24X7 production
environment. Financial services required.
6. A bachelor's degree is required.
