Project Manager - Infrastructure - Research - Fulltime Permanent in Westport, CT
We're looking for people who can be the leaders of the company – starting on their very first day.
Position Summary:
Technology Project Managers are responsible for planning, execution and reporting for projects of varying sizes and complexities, involving any combination of in-house development, business process engineering, or integration of vendor systems. Project Managers must coordinate numerous resources across simultaneous projects serving multiple business sponsors and stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
Creating and maintaining robust plans that will ensure project success, which means:
- Identifying necessary team composition (capabilities and capacity)
- Identifying and managing risks
- Forecasting schedules, effort levels and costs
- Ensuring requirements are well documented and understood by the entire team
- Recommending and implementing improved demand management methods and tools
- Managing the day-to-day operational activities of internal and external team members in collaboration with area leads
- Ensuring that assignments are communicated and properly understood
- Monitoring progress against plans
- Communicating the project status to all business and technology stakeholders and escalating or resolving any issues or risks that may adversely impact project
Position Requirements:
We are looking for a person who:
- Has experience designing and running a Project Management practice
- Has demonstrated expertise in all areas of Project Management methodology
- Is experienced with large scale projects such as enterprise infrastructure implementations
- Is inspired to organize and rationalize competing demand streams
- Possesses excellent decision making, communication and negotiation skills
- Possesses experience managing vendors throughout the relationship lifecycle (RFI, RFP, contracts, SOW, execution, termination)
- Values logical decision-making; Thrives on constructive feedback; Overcomes obstacles through creative problem-solving
- Negotiates among people well and can quickly reconcile opposing views to drive projects forward
Preferred candidates would also meet the following criteria:
- Good familiarity with enterprise infrastructure domains
- Previous track record in technology infrastructure operations, and running projects in accord with those processes
- Ability to gather information, perform analysis and create proposals and presentations that inform the executive decision-making process around project genesis, vendor selection, team construction, prioritization and resource allocation.
- Outstanding candidates will also possess the experience and ability to implement new processes and tools to support excellent demand management in Research Tech.
