Applications Management – Senior Technology Engineer
A position has become available for a Senior Technology Engineer to work in the XXXXXX Applications Management team in New York City. The successful candidate will join a technically diverse team responsible for managing XXXXXX's front office applications and global infrastructure. This includes designing and engineering infrastructure, leading ad-hoc asks and projects, implementing and enforcing policy and procedures, as well as interacting with clients to assist with their on going needs. This position grants the opportunity to be hands on in a vast variety of technologies ranging from server based infrastructure (Solaris, Linux, Wintel) to system level programming (shell scripting, Perl scripting, database scripting, Java and .Net framework).
The successful applicant requires experience in:
- Server architecture principles, practices, implementation, and maintenance.
- Understanding of TCP/IP protocols.
- Knowledge of network services : DNS, WINS, DHCP, Telnet, FTP, SSH.
- Messaging protocols (JMS, RV etc).
- Scripting and automation.
- Enterprise monitoring.
- Application packaging and deployment.
- Knowledge of relational databases (Sybase and Microsoft SQL server).
- IT Management Skills (planning, documenting, defining and adhering to standards).
Technical Qualifications :
- Development on Unix and Windows platform ( Java, C++, C#, .NET framework, VB/VBA, Perl).
- Experience with administering UNIX / Linux, Windows Servers. MCSE certification is a plus.
- Network administration. CCNA is a plus.
- Bachelor/s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
Non-Technical Qualifications:
- Understanding of financial markets.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Positive pro-active team player.
- Good and professional communicator.
- Ability to multi task & good organizational skills.
