Job Description An Electronic Broker Dealer located in Parsippany, New Jersey is looking for a Senior Linux Systems Engineer.
They are seeking a highly motivated, self-starting Linux Systems Engineer to join an Engineering team responsible
For design, development and support of Foreign Exchange Trading Systems.
Responsibilities:
Designer/Engineer Platform solutions, (e.g. Clusters, Blade Configs, Systems Infrastructure)
4th Level Production and Lab Support of worldwide Linux environments
Troubleshoots systems issues and coordinate resolutions in a proactive manner
Develop automated (scripted)installation kits for OS Application layer products
Coordinate design efforts, Identify and Evaluate hardware and services from outside vendors
Prepare effective configuration, installation and operational documentation Competencies
Administration and troubleshooting of computer and network systems technologies
Ability to solve difficult problems with creative solutions
Ability to communicate effectively and relate technical solutions to others
Ability to create technical diagrams that are easily understood by the intended audience systems technology
Ability to write thorough point-by-point documentation that is concise and clearly understood
Proficiency with hands-on server hardware configuration and troubleshooting
Proficiency with the use of command line based administrative tools
Experience and proficiency with scripting/automating administrative procedures.

Responsibilities: Production support of 150+ databases on Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL and MySQL on Linux and Windows servers Setup, configure & manage said databases Write scripts for purpose of administering and monitoring the databases Benchmark databases on new server and storage systems Provide 24/7 support Work with system administration groups on storage design, build-out and support of systems Work with developers on performance tuning and optimization
Requirements: 5 plus years of experience with Oracle and Sybase on Linux with emphasis on Oracle 10g/11g with Data Guard and RAC 4 year degree or equivalent experience Must have excellent communication skills and be customer focused Strong troubleshooting skills in a high pressure environment working with administration, network and development teams Experience with large storage systems like NetApp, EMC, HP … Shell and Perl scripting
Experience in low latency/high performance environment in a financial setting or equivalent Understanding of storage principles in high performance environment (RAID, file systems, etc) Knowledge of Oracle, Sybase and MySQL performance tuning principles Knowledge of Oracle and Sybase high availability solutions (RAC, Data Guard and Replication)
