This is a 6 months contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in WESTPORT, CT. Key Responsibilities:
 

 

 IT department is seeking an IT Datacenter Operations Associate to contribute to the ongoing management and operation of several data center facilities. These facilities can range from Datacenter Co-Location Facilities to smaller campus IT equipment, MDF/IDF rooms. Activities will include execution of standard operating processes and the installation of IT Infrastructure. Responsibilities would include:
• Ensure the IT Data Center infrastructure is fulfilling business needs through ongoing maintenance and support
• Ensure infrastructure availability and stability – Identify and escalate any issues
• Ensure that the service incidents and requests are being addressed excellently and ensure they are resolved in a timely manner
• Participate and drive continuous improvement of the infrastructure service
Position Requirements:
• Minimum of five years of Data Center Operations experience
• Hands on experience with server/network equipment/telecommunication physical installation, troubleshooting and repair
• Proficient with structured copper/fiber cable connections/trouble shooting and hyper attention to neatness and detail
• Experience with HW installation, baseline configuration, turn up coordination, level 1 incident response for Cisco Lan/Wan/SAN equipment, SLBs, DWDM equipment.
• Experience with HW installation, bare metal configuration, turn up coordination, level 1 incident response for traditional and blade servers
• Experience with installation coordination, turn up and level 1 response PBX, VoIP, turret equipment
• Experience with installation coordination, turn up and level 1 incident response of EMC storage
• Experience with troubleshooting Telco circuits, T1, T3, OCn, FE, 1G, 10G, Dark fiber
• Good understanding of Data Center power/cooling concepts
• Willingness to work flexibility on any shift in support of a 24x7 operation.
• This position will be required to work a combination of days / nights / weekends
Preferred candidates would also meet the following criteria:
• Extensive (5+ years) IT infrastructure and data center operations
• 4 year degree in related technical field
• Proficient in WAN/MAN, server and PBX technologies/installation/repair
• Proficient in system administration of Cisco network equipment, traditional and blade servers
• Proficient in troubleshooting of telecom carrier circuits/facilities
• Proficient in power distribution, data center cooling strategies and related monitoring systems
