Systems Support Engineer - Third Shift 12am - 9am (New York, NY) **Candidate must have financial services experience**

Our client is a leading broker/dealer that provides an institutional trading network that facilitates the execution of large block equity trades. We are presently seeking a Systems Support Engineer to work third shift (midnight to 9am) to assist their new European services product.

The core functions of the Systems Support Engineer are to:

* Help monitor the trading system and network in real-time,
troubleshooting problems with staff and customers

* Document procedures for network configuration and resolution,
and prepare reports of system issues

* Assist in implementation of (a) a network monitoring system;
(b) disaster recovery preparation; and (c) a document management system

Job Requirements:

The following are essential requirements for the position: 2 to 6 years experience

* Knowledge of networking concepts and trouble-shooting skills
* Strong experience with Linux environments, Red Hat Linux is
desirable

* Familiarity with shell scripting and Linux service operation
* Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills in a demanding
environment

* Strong follow-through and initiative-taking ability
* Good communication and documentation skills, written and oral
* Experience with Windows environments
* College Degree

Experience in any of the following is a plus:
* Experience with network-monitoring software and procedures
* Documentation experience
* Prior experience with trading and order management systems
* Knowledge of the FIX protocol
* Ability to troubleshoot networking issues on Cisco routers,
firewalls, switches, and on IPSec VPNs

* Experience reading network sniffer traces
* Experience troubleshooting telecommunication issues
