o Burlington-based Vermedx Raises $500,000 in First Round

Burlington, Vt. – Vermedx, a Burlington-based healthcare information
technology company, announced on Friday that it has raised $500,000 in its
first round of external investment from FreshTracks Capital. The Vermedx
Diabetes Information System was developed and refined over the course of a
five year National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded clinical trial
involving more than 7,400 adults with diabetes. The clinical trial confirmed
that the system provided significant treatment quality improvement for
enrolled patients while yielding annual treatment cost savings of $2,400 per
patient, according to the company. Vermedx holds an exclusive worldwide
license to commercialize the technology, which was developed at the
University of Vermont.
