[itroundtable] Product Information Manager - Melville, Long Island



this sounds IT-ish so I'll let you share with the roundtable groups!

It came via a former client.



I'm looking for an individual that is a combination data base manager, writer, project manager, product manager and supervisor to help my client maintain their large online and print catalogue.


The company is a publicly traded industrial products supply company located in Melville, Long Island with some 50,000 catalogue items that are distributed throughout the US and the world.

Product Information Manager

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Manages Product Information maintenance and validation efforts to ensure data is consistent and accurate across databases and data entry efforts.

· Reviews, cleans and adds business and formatting rules to every hierarchy in the Product Database.

· Manages efforts to ensure data is synchronized between Product, Publishing, E-commerce, E-procurement and related databases.

· Manages special projects, including establishing targets and timelines and the allocation of necessary resources to achieve desired goals.

· Reviews the work of Coordinators as needed based on pre-determined QA procedures to ensure that the team is working accurately and following the standards.

· Works cross-functionally with IS, Product, Sales, Suppliers, etc. to ensure information is consistent and accurate across databases and data entry efforts.

· Participates in the development of validation rules and acceptable value tables to be used for hierarchy creation.

· Analyzes and manipulates data utilizing Access software tools. Ensures Product Information management rules and processes are consistently applied and adhered to.

· Manages process improvement efforts related to data and associated systems and processes.

· Performs all duties inherent in the role of manager including hiring, terminations, performance review and development of associates.

· Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

Required Skills
· Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, or the equivalent is required

· Minimum of four years related experience

· minimum of one year management/supervisory experience is required

· Experience in managing multiple simultaneous projects is required.

· Excellent oral and written communications skills

· Computer literacy/proficiency in database languages, Word & Excel required

· Database System analytical skills utilizing Access type tools.

· Excellent time management skills are required.

Prior industry knowledge or experience in an industrial distribution environment preferred
