[itroundtable] LinkedIn Tip: LinkedIn Introductions vs Invitations

The assumption is that you do NOT have the person's e-mail address.
(If you had it, you would simply Invite him/her using the "Add Connections"
button as one way.)

You need to initiate a LinkedIn Introduction from inside a profile (upper right)
and choose the connector. Write a compelling message, explaining who
you are and what you want from him/her (value proposition - but brief).
After he/she accepts your Introduction, you will get his/her e-mail
address and then you will need to Invite him/her to join your LinkedIn
network.  LinkedIn makes Introductions a two-step process.

Better yet, if you have some commonality with him/her (same LinkedIn
group, college, workplace, did business together, friend, etc.),
choose "Add Pat to my network" inside his/her profile also at the
upper right, choose the type of commonality on the drop-down screen,
and write the same type of compelling message to him/her.
The net result is that you were able to Invite him/her to join your
LinkedIn network without having his/her e-mail address (one-step
process instead of 2).

I hope that you're in my LinkedIn network.  If not, Invite me.
