Business Analysts; The CEO's Army
By Jarett Hailes

As the economy slowly recovers, businesses and governments continue to look
at ways to maximize their organizational potential with the human capital
they currently have. Over the years several management strategies have been
presented to ensure consistent long-term performance (and outperformance).
Methodologies such as
Six-Sigma<http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1102966155161&s=118994&e=001H33m8NHg4LrRf5KhKjK0I5UeB6xPCoVNjLs8Rk7gqO-EnG9NYpDszdtWatbCzjd-m7RmEV33wXLDUb2D3sr4se4mlJx_7Tey8t-C9294pw3Y6vIpicc22nxQomXzRH-mPT84ZU6TbsN6oS3L8EjH2Q==>quantify
results to identify opportunities for improvement and monitor
subsequent performance. Others take a more qualitative approach and look to
unleash the most important asset any organization has - its employees.

Requirements Driven Test Management
By Emrah Yayici

According to the Standish Group's Chaos Report, 90% of IT projects are
delivered late and 66% of them are not considered successful. Surveys show
that more than 50% of the project failures can be attributed to problems
stemming from Requirements Elicitation and Management and more than 20% are
due to Ineffective Testing.

Should Business Analysts Model Requirements?
by Elizabeth Larson

During a recent client visit I encouraged the use of modeling as a way to
uncover hidden requirements and expectations. One of my clients expressed
her rather strong opinion that modeling requirements was not and should not
be a part of business analysis work. Oh, she could accept the fact that
uncovering gaps between the "as-is" and "to-be" using process models made
some sense, but she was adamant that this gap analysis should be done by a
business SME, not by a business analyst (BA). As to data modeling, well that
was technical in nature and if done at all, she said, it should be done by
the technical IT staff. Use cases were helpful to the testing staff, but
were clearly technical and were not to be done by BAs. Prototyping? This
should be done by developers-no question about that one!

Subject: [MyLinkNetwork] Networking and sharing value through blogs
To: MyLinkNetwork@yahoogroups.com

I have always found a great deal of value in online social networking and in
connecting and sharing through online groups, so to pay it forward and give
back, I wanted to share word of what I am writing about on my business and
technology blog.

Guide to Effective Job Search and Career Development
http://plattperspective.wordpress.com/guide-to-effective-job-search-and-career-development/
I now have posted 36 short single topic essays on various aspects of job
search and career development. These cover standard topics and issues and
also look into new trends and issues like video resumes and best practices
for them. My most recent posting here deals with the difficult issues of job
discrimination and I have several more postings planned to continue this
series. With unemployment still at and above 10% nationally in the US this
is an important area to develop and share best practices in.

Social Networking and Business
http://plattperspective.wordpress.com/social-networking-and-business/
This is very close to what I do professionally as a consultant along with
always looking for new job opportunities myself. I have posted 38 times on
this, presenting a very systematic picture of what good, effective social
networking is and how to create value through it. My most recent posting in
this series is about social networking and fads, and how they form.

I also post on a range of other, related topics and I always respond to
comments that share ideas and that help develop real conversations. How can
I help you with your networking?
