[itroundtable] Fwd: [nyaltnet] ANNC: Agile Firestarter Event 11/13/2010

I went to one of these last year, and it was a very good intro to agile principles and techniques. Highly recommended. The group sponsoring the event (alt.net), which includes a number of Microsoft MVP, are dedicated to using the best tools and techniques on their projects, mixing dot net and open source as needed.

All:

We are planning another Agile Firestarter event in early November.  As most of our membership has significant experience with Agile, its likely this event will be too 'introductory' for most of our regular membership, but all are welcome to attend just the same.  More importantly, if you know of other software developers, co-workers, managers, or others that might benefit from a rapid ramp-up on Agile principles and techniques, please feel free to forward this announcement to them as well.

Thanks,

-The NYC ALT.NET Organizing Team

---begin announcement---

We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the upcoming NEW YORK AREA AGILE FIRESTARTER EVENT.

Are you just starting out with Agile, XP or Scrum and need to get up to speed? Or do you know a thing or two about Agile but want to learn the basics so you can implement it in your organization?

Then this Firestarter is for you. We'll take you from 0 to 60 in 8 hours. Bring a laptop with Visual Studio 2008/2010 Express edition or better for an all day hands on seminar led by some of the New York area's Agile practitioners.

Preliminary Agenda:

  • Registration and Welcome
  • Introduction to Agile
  • Continuous Integration
  • Dependency Injection
  • Test Driven Development
  • Agile Estimation
  • Refactoring to a SOLID Foundation
  • Retrospectiveend_of_the_skype
  • Wrap up
Please note: This event is a re-delivery of similar content as provided at past Agile Firestarter events.  If you have attended one of the prior Agile Firestarter events either in NYC or NJ, please don't RSVP for this one as well. Instead make room for someone else who hasn't been able to attend past deliveries of this content!

For more information and to RSVP, see http://www.agilefirestarter.com

Space is limited and tends to fill up fast so please plan to RSVP as soon as possible if you are interested.  We look forward to seeing you there in November!
